How bring up in safe mode with windows 8.1 for toshiba a665-56086?

1. Restart you rcomputer and press F8 or Shift+F8 before Windows starts loading. Sometimes this method doesn't work because Windows 8 loads too fast (eg. if you have SSD).

2. If first method fails, try this. Click with your mouse the Power button (on the screen, not on the computer), press and hold Shift key and select Restart. A new scrren will appear. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart. Your computer will restart and will ask you to choose 1 of the 9 startup settings including Safe mode.

I dan't get my start up to load

switch on laptop and straight away press f 8 key this should take you to a black and white screen asking which mode to start in so choose safe mode then go into my computer then control panel and choose system restore. this will start your computer from an earlier point in time when it was running fine. give it a try.

How do you get to safe mode for toshiba

Debra,

There are a couple of methods to get to Safe Mode on a PC.

The first and established method of getting Safe Mode to pull up is to turn the computer off all of the way. Then turn the computer back on and immediately start tapping the F8 key on the keyboard. (Don't hold the key down, but instead press it over and over.) This should bring you to a Safe Mode menu to choose which option to boot into.

If you have pressed the F8 key and the computer still attempts to boot to regular windows, you can press and hold in the power button to turn the computer off and retry the F8 option.

The other, less established method of forcing a computer into safe mode is to turn the computer on, wait until you see the Windows logo start to load, and then press and hold in the power button to force a shutdown. Doing this twice in a row should result in the safe mode prompt on the third boot up attempt.

Hope this info helps!

I think what you may need to try is a REPAIR reinstall of XP. This will at once either sort out the problem or indicate what is wrong. Also can you do a system restore? try that first. At Startup PC, press F8 at instant of turn on... choose Safe Mode. when you are asked if you want safe desktop or system restore choose restore, when you get to the restore menu, choose a date BEFORE you had problems there may only be one or two to choose from. just follow the instructions and you should be back to working with all that behind you.

No, not at all. Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

My Emachine T5010 reboots on Windows loading screen.

Before windows loads press F8 on the keyboard to get an advanced menu.
choose the option that says disable automatic restart on error and see what error you get.
Also try the Safe Mode option.
That click sounds like the harddrive is failing.

Can't get to login window

Blue screens are normally critical errors. If you have loaded any new hardware to your computer lately or some software packages you will need to uninstall them.

Try starting windows in safe mode by pressing F8 continuoulsy until you hear a beep. This will start the computer in safe mode and everything will look big on the screen, ignore that for now. While you are in safe mode uninstall anything that you have loaded prior to this error. Be it software or hardware.

If you have not loaded anything recently then try restoring your computer to an earlier time when you know that it was working with now problems.

Once safe mode boots go to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date when you know that the computer was running okay. Once the restore has taken place the computer will reboot. If asked what mode you want to start in choose start windows normally.

Hopefully this will help you resolve your problem.
