Processors do not limit the amount of ram you can install. The motherboard determines that. You should check the specifications from the manufacturer (of the MB or the computer if it's an off the shelf product).

SOURCE: HELP with with Intel celeron d 325

Phew, k3! A ton of questions and even more confusion going on here!

Firstly (love that non-word), your Motherboard accepts DDR Ram. Unfortunately, DDR2 will not be compatible. Won't work. Sorry. It does accept up to 2gb of DDR Ram, though.

Second, for Graphic Card slots, it has 3 x PCI slots (NOT PCI-Express), which are great for G-Cards. Maximum amount of memory won;t be affected by your MB, but by your processor and ram. As long as it has a PCI slot for a PCI card, you'll be good. Just be sure to turn off integrated graphics in BIOS settings.

Thirdly, good luck. Opening up the side of your PC can be daunting at first. Ensure you either have the patience to learn before you touch or have the money to continue learning as you go. >.o

Is it worth the cost to try to increase the speed of my computer?

In your case yes, RAM is cheap this days, and your processor is not bad for a celeron (its is actually the last pentium4 core and it runs at 3.3 GHz). You can install a maximum of 2GB of RAM and that would make a pretty decent PC.

What is the hidhest ram i can use on a celeron 2.6

Hi. The amount of memory that can be installed is limited by the motherboard, not the CPU. That being said, the motherboard you have listed will take the following memory:

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.

New ram memory on dell dimension celeron trying to

You should check with the folks at Dell since whoever wrote their technical manuals for this machine can't do basic math. There are 2 memory slots and each can handle a maximum capacity of 512MB, yet they claim the maximum capacity for the machine is 2GB instead of 1GB. Using 512MB modules would probably work.

Can Dell Dimension 8400 intel celeron work with 3 gig ram

Yes it can but try to match up at least two, to gain the advantage of dual channel and when you buy your extra ram, check that it matches the other two that you have in size, speed and technology (like 3x1G DDR2 same speed). Also you may have to play with which slot to put the third one but I had this one run with three modules before yes.

Otherwise your Dell Dimension 8400 can see upto a maximum of 4.0 GB memory, with maximum of 1GB per slot in 4 (2 banks of 2) memory slots.
