LED light of CD ROM blinking problem

I have a laptop (Compaq Presario 2205 AL). whenever i turn on my laptop, LED light of CD ROM starts blinking and continuously blinks until i shut down the laptop. and it is also not reading any CD or DVD.
Please help me out to solve this problem.
