Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

My Sears 102 1499A GDO suddenly quit working with any remotes and the learn light flashes on and off. The hard wired open and close button on the wall is the only thing that will work. Although I did get a remote control program to work but it only works if I am standing right under it. If I move out to allow the door to close it is too far away to activate the signal. Do you think I need a service tech or is there a simple fix?

Random flashing of the learn light is normal. There is no simple fix for this as it sounds like the receiver portion of the logic board has failed.

Tried to reprogram security code for outdoor key pad on 1/2hp craftsman garage door opener according to instructions online, pressed learn button- put in new 4 digit code-held enter. Lights did not flash...

Seems you've done everything right. Press and immediately release the smart/learn button and then walk over and key in a 4 digit code and press enter. If you are sure the battery in the keypad is good then I think your keypad is on the fritz or the wrong one for that opener.

When I moved into my house, I didn't get the 4 digit code for my garage door opener from the previous owner. Is there anyway to reset the access code?

Get all the remotes together. At the end of the GDO where the wires are connected you will find a "Smart" button. Press and hold the button for 10 seconds. the led should lite then go out. This clears all the codes.
Press and release the smart button. Then press the button on the 1st remote. The light(s) on the GDO will flash on and off. This remote should now work.
Perform the procedure again for each of the remotes to enter the codes to memory.
Perform the same procedure for the keyless entry remote, press the buttons slowly to be sure not to miss any of the 4 numbers (and enter)...
That should solve your problem.
Good luck.

Chamberlain Liftmaster GDO just clicks, no lights no open/close

Pull the logic board and check it for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit. Thunderstorms love logic boards.

How do I reprogram my craftsman GDO remote?

On the back of the motor unit near where all those white wires go you will find the smart/learn button. Press and hold the button on your remote while you press and immediately release the smart/learn button.

I have sears opener #139.53989. Every once in a while I have a down problem. It goes down within an inch of the floor and reverses. Sometimes I can hold the wired remote button and it will go all the way...

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a sensor problem. Check them very closely. If they are just a little off one of them will be flickering but it is difficult to see. This can also cause the problem to be intermittent. Tweak them just a little.

It is normal for that light to blink randomly.

Craftsman GDO - Remotes not working

I think this is an easier way to program. Press and hold the button on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit. Do this for each remote you have.

All of a sudden all three remotes stopped working at the same time. Battery is okay, hard wire opener works

You probably have the lock enguaged on the opener. On the wall control, there is a button labeled "lock". Press and hold for 3 seconds and then release. the light on the wall button should be solid now. Your remotes should work. If the light is solid and the remotes still do not work, press the learn button on the back of the opener motor and then press the button on the remote. The light on the motor will blink once. Repeat on the other two remotes.
