SOURCE: Jandy Lite 2 LG250N- Heat Exchanger cracked over winter

Yes I just had the same problem, the guy that I bought the house from told me to drain the pump and the filter, etc. But failed to mention there is three brass plugs on the side of the unit, so the heat exchanger cracked, but i took it to a general welding shop and they welded the crack up so that saved me a bunch of money That is all you have to do

SOURCE: Pentair Minimax NT 400 heater. fan keeps coming

Sounds like the controller is the problem. This is the circuit board that has the display and controls on it. You can swing that panel open and try tapping on the white plastic cover the controller is under that. This might get the fan relay to release but you will have to replace the controller it will stick again

SOURCE: E04 comes on after fan purge cycle-Pentair minimax nt pool heater

This is a fan falure code. It can mean the fan has problems (not likley if the fan goes and isn't labored) You have a sensor in your exaust (probally not this if you don't get a good start) The culperet is probally in the negetive pressure sensor. This is a 2-3 inch disc with wires going to the controls and a rubber tube going to the fan. Pull the tube from the fan and make sure the fan fitting is clear (poke with a tooth pic) Be sure their are no kinks in the hose. If the heater is 4 years old the diaprahm could be bad in the pressure sensor. Check the other things first but this is probally your problem. Good luck, hope this helped.

Have a Pentair Minimax Plus 400 heater leaking water. How do you get the top and flue collector (gas is turned off at source) off so you can see if the heat exchangers are leaking, or is there another way...

There are multiple screws around the perimeter, remove them then lift of the top. Then there is multiple pieces of sheet metal that also needs removal. Then the baffles sit right on top of the heat exchanger which will easily be removed once the sheet metal is removed. then inspect the exchanger.

Good luck

Pentair minimax ch350 wont heat. the pilot is on and i have a blue flame

There is something wrong with one of the following: No gas pressure, gas valve does not come on, etc. There could be a lot of causes for these details especially in the control system. Assuming you have a volt/ohm meter, I suggest you call the Pentair technical support line and they might be able to help you resolve exactly what the problem is. I hope this helps.

We need a heat exchanger without heads for our Minimax 100 ng fired heater. we have pinholes in ours. where can we get one at a reasonable price????

You can trypool motor rebuild shops or the like. Usually if someone is getting rid of a heater it is because the exchanger is leaking. When the exchanger leaks it will often hurt other parts inside the cabnet. Also the chems that hurt the excanger will have done damage to the presure switch. In most cases it is best to bite the bullet and get a new heater.
If you do this you will need to address the cause of the problem. This will probally be water chemestry. Low PH, or high chloriene will both do this. Whatever the cause it needs to be fixed or it will ruin the next one also. I wish I could be more help, sorry.

Unfortunately it is usually caused by a bad heat exchanger. Not too expensive, but a dirty, time consuming job to replace.

I have a Pentair MiniMax NT heater about three years old. The unit is making a loud "popping" sound when heating. I think its the heat exchanger from what I am hearing. Can a heat exchanger be cleaned out?...

the heat exchanger can be reamed or replaced but it is quite a job; replacing the heat exchanger is very expensive and time consuming. unless your pool chemicals are extremely out of balance, most especially low ph from using tablet chlorine or too much acid the heat exchanger should not have worn out this quickly. the best solution if you do not have a pool serviceman is to call Leslies Pool Supply or a trained Pentair service tech. It may be worth the service call to have the problem diagnosed by a pro.
