Question about Vacuums

My dyson d70 won't pick up efficiantly, i have been hoovering plaster up previous to this. i have lost my user manual and can't remove the fillters to clean them.

Plaster dust is very fine and can get into the motor. Clean every part of the suction system, I've seen them be full of plaster pieces blocking the flow. Wash or replace every filter, dry before trying again.

Get the filter out of a dyson hoover dc 19 to clean it.

To remove, wash, dry and replace your DC19's washable pre-filter, please follow the steps shown in our video guide. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.


Both of DC19's filters are engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. The post-filter does not need maintenance, and should not be washed or cleaned as this may damage the filter.

Vacuum is about 4 years old does not pick up well


Have you ever replaced the belt? That is most likely the reason that it is not picking up like it used to. You are actually supposed to change the belt yearly. Here is the belt you need and the manual which has instructions:

Dyson dc11 makes a groaning sound and no suction


It is more than likely that you've caused blockage in your turbines. Plaster dust is very very fine and will have passed through your filter quite easily. It's also more than likely that the plaster dust has affected your motor.

If you turn it on and you hear popping, then motor is more than likely deceased. If you hear something like a valve releasing when you turn the machine off then there may be a blockage.
