Plaster dust is very fine and can get into the motor. Clean every part of the suction system, I've seen them be full of plaster pieces blocking the flow. Wash or replace every filter, dry before trying again.

My Dyson D14 was used by electricians to clean up plaster dust when chasing out wiring! It has not worked properly since. My husband has twice taken it apart and cleaned filters carefully drying all

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Our machines are designed and tested for standard domestic use only, and we do advise against using them to clean up large quantities of fine powders, such as plaster dust.

It's possible that if the plaster dust has damaged the filter, replacing this will improve performance. However, I'd encourage you to get in touch with us directly before ordering a replacement - our experts will take you through some quick troubleshooting checks just to make sure that a new filter will resolve the issue.

You can reach our freephone customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US). Please have your machine to hand when you call.

Best wishes,

Jack

Unable to get hose/lance out of hoover to use as tool. Stuck.

Hi there

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. The wand should remove from the cleaner very easily, as illustrated in the user guide supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have yours to hand, here is an online copy:

If it won't do this, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting checks over the phone with you. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We look forward to hearing from you.

Vacuum is about 4 years old does not pick up well

Have you ever replaced the belt? That is most likely the reason that it is not picking up like it used to. You are actually supposed to change the belt yearly. Here is the belt you need and the manual which has instructions:

Dyson dc11 makes a groaning sound and no suction

It is more than likely that you've caused blockage in your turbines. Plaster dust is very very fine and will have passed through your filter quite easily. It's also more than likely that the plaster dust has affected your motor.

If you turn it on and you hear popping, then motor is more than likely deceased. If you hear something like a valve releasing when you turn the machine off then there may be a blockage.

Probably best to refer to your local Dyson via www.dyson.com
