Kenmore whirlpool dryer won't start and has a bad burning smell

You may have an overheat sensor that is burning up. The dryer won't start because the heat would be uncontrollably high otherwise

Clean Lint Filter Light Keeps Dryer from starting

Evidently the fuse blew for some reason.
Keep the dryer unplugged from power for one hour or so. If it still does start, you will have to take apart the dryer, check the fuse, check the thermal fuse, and test the wirings inside.
If you need to call arepairman use the number listed on the owner manual.

No heat , drum turns and wont shut off

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.
Hi, On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Dryer model LER6620PQ0 dryer runs, but will not heat

If drier runs and doesnt heat, it can be one of two things. 1)The over temp. th/stat has activated. Possibly it can be reset. or 2)the actual element is faulty, which would need replacement.

Burning Smell from Belt on Whirlpool Dryer

Hi, You need to check and see if the belt has slipped off of one of the pulleys. Was the idler the wheels style or a glide style?
Make sure the grooves in the belt are facing the drum and they are in the grooves of the motor pulley.
Please let me know if this helps and if I can assist you further.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Gas dryers aren't very complicated. Here are some common symptoms you may experience with your dryer.

The light doesn't work
My clothes smell bad!
My clothes are marked or torn
Hope this may help;

Whirlpool dryer

it could be a bad limit switch (metal thermostat) that turns the heat off when getting too hot. if the heat continues too much it will burn out a "fuse" in the back of the machine and it will not turn back on. so if you replace the "fuse" then make sure you replace the limit switches too or the "fuse" will burn out again.
