Check the drain hose for clogs and kinks if there's no water being pumped out. Inspect the pump's inlet and outlet for clogs then check if the pump impeller is still intact. Broken impeller will cause water not to be pumped out no matter how much the pump spins and this is most likely your case. Replace the pump assembly (part number 2-2203) if the pump spins and everything is clear in the drain system but no water is pumped out.

The pump is an opaque white plastic thing under the drum. You'll have to remove the front or back cover depending on your model, to see underneath. If it's spinning and agitating the belt is ok. Post your model number for diagrams and parts list showing where the parts are. You can post it back here at FixYa or at this site. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/

The top & front panel will need to come off to see the pump at the lower front. Disassemble the hose and check it for a clogged screen filter

No screen clogged, as water drained into 5 gal buckets fine. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

How to Troubleshoot a Maytag Washer That Will Not Drain

  1. Step 1 Pull the washer out from the wall and look for kinked or snagged hoses. The drain hose must be inserted into the drain pipe at the wall. Problems can arise if the drainpipe height is outside Maytag'smaytag A712 washing machine+Spins, but not drainin - 2_bing.gif parameters. Maytag requires a maximum height of 96 inches and a minimum height of 39 inches for the washer to pump out water properly.
  2. Step 2 Balance the loads. Larger loads will put more strain on the motor and reduce the spin speed, thus resulting in more residual water.
  3. Step 3 Reduce the amount of detergent, or use a low-sudsing detergent if the Maytag washer is a High Efficiency (HE) model. Look for HE detergent. It has a distinctive logo and will put less strain on the pump.
  4. Step 4 Choose a higher spin speed. The delicate cycles spin at a low speed, causing the wash to come out wetter. Be aware that this does not mean the drain is failing

if u don't hear the pump running you may also have a defective washer timer, here is a part number for that at the repairclinic.com Go to the link, u access the timer from the rear panel of the machine.

sounds like the washer timer may be bad, did u read my previous?.

  • yadayada

move/jiggle the timer control knob in the zone where it should pump out the tub, if it starts pumping then the timer is defective.

    Timer problems.

Missing cycles or timer stalls in middle of cycle...often this is a timer contact problem, remove power, access the timer and remove metal or plastic cover. Look for blackened or burnt contacts. If the timer contacts are pitted black or burnt, replace the timer. If you have to "wiggle" the timer knob to make the washer work, this is another timer problem, new timer time. New picture of a timer with a burnt contact is here. If your timer is moving part way through the cycle and then is stopping in certain parts, this link here may help you out.

LOOK FOR THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE TO THE WASHER TIMER ELECTRICAL CONTACTS, IF FOUND THEN THE TIMER IS DEFECTIVE.

Why won't my Maytag washer A48t drain? Replaced belts when it also wouldn't spin. Now it spins, but does not drain.

If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing. Keep in mind that any water in the washer will pour out of the hoses when removed. Also check drain hose.

Maytag MAV7550AWW makes very loud noise while draining, although it still drains and spins out.

Check the pump. Maybe a coin or something got in the impellers. Another is to check the belt and pulley along with the mounting of the pump.

I have a Maytag A712 top load washer that filled with water and then stopped working. It will not agitate or anything. Also, how do I get the water to drain?

I drain water from stuck machine by filling an appropriately long piece of garden hose with water and holding thumbs on both ends. then i plunge one end deeply into the tub and have the other end below the first end when i let my thumbs loose. This machine has a water pump that will begin to lose a shiny steel retainer that digs into its housing and stops the belt.

I have a maytage epic front loader, its flashing F21-book says drain problem, How can I fix it?

HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

3. Drain Filter
Check the drain filter for clogs as well. This filter can become clogged overtime, preventing the free flow to exit the drain tube. It is located inside the unit, mounted on the pump housing.

**The most common issue will be an obstructed hose or, line

NOTE-If the hoses filter, and pump check out ok, this will confirm that there is a serious within the actual control sector(Timer module or control board). It should be replaced i this case.

Agitator spins slowly and wont drain water-slight burning smell when operating

Hi, Th smell is most likely the belt. If the washer is not draining, the pump could be locked up and this will cause the belt to smell.
The pump is located underneath rear right corner. If you set the drain hose itno abucket and get the water out. you can tip the washer back and see if the pump is froze. I see you posted this premium but I didn't get to it in time cause I was asnwering this.
Hope it helps

Won't drain

In my case the drain hose was pinched. My machine got pushed up against the hose and I had the same problem with it humming and not draining. I came in here and read some of the replys and watched to see if water was coming out of the drain hose and it was but only a bit. I pulled the machine out to get a better look and sure enough it started working fine.

Maytag washing machine will not drain model number lat36ooaa

Check drain hoses and pump for blockage. These are usually located under the tub so you will have to remove the covers. If not then the pump may be bad. MM85
