your heads need to be cleaned with a cleaning minidv tape. about $20 for one of them, otherwise you will need to fork out a bit of cash to get the heads replaced... probably better jut buying a new camera - a hardrive one!

SOURCE: RCA CC6262 Camcorder Problem:

Hi

Unfortunately, the camera may be beyond repair. The common complaint from camcorders of this vintage and older, is surface mount capacitors failing, not just a few, but many, all through the unit. It affected most makes and models. Meant that any camcorder 5-6 years old, may not be worth repair, as faults exist in many different places. Fix the display problem you have, to find autofocus problems, or poor performance. I suggest returning the battery to the store for a refund. Explain it did not do the job for you... and cut your losses. Sorry it has to be news like this, but is the best bet under the circumstances.

robotek

SOURCE: LCD screen not working on my Sony Hc 42 camcorder

Hi
The LCD cable is faulty. You need to replace the LCD cable from SONY authorised service center.

It's a common problem as this cable is bend each time when we open the LCD screen, so the cable become faulty.

Hello! I have a RCA VHS-C camcorder that has a malfunctioning viewfinder.

Interesting that it has worked so long. You might want to consider a better camera since even the cheapest digital video camera today will have better video than a VHS-C camcorder. With the VHS tape it only recorded analog signals and each copy of the tape would degrade. Most cellphones today will take video that is orders of magnitude better than a VHS-C unit . . .

When I turn on the camera I get a white screen on hte monitor and nothing in the viewfinder. This occurs in the still, record and playback modes.

Hi,
It sounds video processor is not getting voltage from sub power supply section on main board of camcorder that is why you do not get any video output in lcd or viewfinder in any mode.
I'm Sony camcorder tech and can help you if you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can take apart camcorder easily with proper tools.
In my opinion, there would be fuse blow out that provides volts to video signal section. Let me know exact model number of camcorder to proceed and if you feel uncomfortable working on camcorder then local camera repair shop is an option to get it fixed.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

I have a sears solid state VHS camcorder LXI series, when I turn it on to record I get no image through the viewer.

The CRT is most likely bad. Unfortunately, i have the same problem and there are no longer any parts available for it. Just in case you do not know what a CRT is, its basically a tiny T.V. screen in the viewfinder. You could use it by hooking it up to a television so you can see what you are recording, but other than that its ready for the electronics graveyard.

Can't read the date/time

There may be a simple explanation. Here are two possible reasons this is happening: * You may have disconnected the power source before turning off the power to your camcorder. If you remove the power source from the camcorder while the power is on, all settings and selections will be erased. Make sure to turn the camcorder's power off before disconnecting the power source. * This is particularly an issue for some early VHS-C camcorders – those with model numbers beginning with a "6" and ending with a "2" or "3" (i.e. CC6xx2 … CC6xx3). These camcorders have a consumer-replaceable clock battery that may be exhausted. If that battery runs dead or is removed and the main battery or AC is not connected, the camcorder will lose all its Date and Time settings. * In some models, the date and time display is designed to do this. When you turn on many VHS-C and digital camcorders, the Auto Date mode will display the time and date. When recording begins, the date is recorded on the tape for 5 seconds and then disappears. In the viewfinder, the date will then be replaced with the words AUTO DATE but they will not be recorded. They remain in your viewfinder so that you know this feature is on. On full-size or VHS camcorders, the Auto Date feature is very similar. When you first turn on the camcorder, the date along with the word AUTO and a Clock icon appear in the viewfinder. When recording begins, the date is automatically recorded for 10 seconds and then disappears. In the viewfinder, the Clock icon and the word AUTO remain but they will not be recorded. They remain so that you are aware that this feature is on. When using the Auto Date feature, be aware that the time is only recorded when you first turn on the camcorder and begin a recording session. It does not record each time you press the record button. There are a number of time and date display and recording options. Since these vary by model number, please refer to your owner’s manual for more details.
