Kitchen Aid side by side KSCS 25 IN SS01 refrigerator ice maker not working, yet water dispenser is. I thought it might be the PUR filter, which I hadn't replaced in 3 yrs., so I have installed a new one. Was told it might need 24 hours to have the ice machine react....way beyond that now. The

I have a kitchen aid side by side KSCS 25 IN SSO1 with a recently non-functioning ice maker, yet the water dispenser still works.
After changing the stock PUR filter for this ref. several days ago, the ice machine is still not working. I am wondering if the blue box with two water tubes and electrical connectors could be a device that I need to replace.

still checking out what he advised me to do, but I appreciate the ideas. :)

Hello,

Follow the below procedure to troubleshoot and fix your ice maker because that may not be the problem.

Inspect the water supply line for any signs of cracking or crimps in the line. A pinched water supply line can keep the water from getting to the ice maker, resulting in no ice. Check to verify that the water supply valve is open enough to provide an adequate supply of water to the ice maker.

Get a thermometer and see how cold it is in there. If your freezer is fewer than 17 degrees F, it won't make ice. The freezer temperature setting may be too high or the thermometer is broken and not calibrated correctly. If adjusting the temperature fails to work, call a technician.

Determine if your water fill spout in the freezer is plugged with ice. If so, no new ice can be made. Try clearing it out or melting the ice by running a hair dryer on it for a few minutes.

Turn your refrigerator around to look at the back side to see if water is getting to the water inlet valve behind the fridge. If the water is not properly connected, there's no water to make ice.

Use an ohm meter to test for coil continuity. If the ohm meter shows there is no continuity, then you will need to replace the water inlet valve.

See if there are icicles hanging from the fill spout and/or on the ice maker's sides. If there are, this means your water inlet valve is leaking and will need replacing. Refer to your user manual for a part number, or call a technician

Check to see if the ejector seal is cracked. If it is, replace it. Refer to your user manual for a part number, or call a technician.

Take care.

Hi, i have the same refrigerator and was having a very similar problem. My water would dispense just fine, but the ice maker suddenly began making partial cubes of ice, then quit making ice, than started again before finally stopping again. At first I thought it was because the fill tube coming from the back of the frig was frozen, but after clearing it the problem persisted. I traced the problem back to the valve at the back right corner of the frig. I disconnected the power inputs and water lines, then took the valve apart. On the side that feeds the ice maker there is a small washer inside of the valve with a very small hole that only allows a limited amount of water flow through it. A small pieced of rubber had broken loose from another section of the valve an was clogging this small hole. I cleaned the entire valve system and reassembled it. The ice maker is now back in action!!! The fill tube going into the tray had frozen because of the small trickle of water that was going into it was not sufficient to keep it from freezing. Make sure this is still clear before turning everything back on. I hope this helps several of you out there, as this seems to be a common problem.

Take care

Thank you, Sheikhtijani. I appreciate your insight. May I ask if you cleaned out the thumb-sized beige cylinder on the top of that blue water/ice diverter or did you plug the three water lines and disassemble the whole blue devise? Thanks, Jeff

Unfortunately, the housing that the water filter fits into is also the housing for the solenoid controlled water valve, and that is the most likely failure item.

Kitchen Aid Ice maker Stopped working

I would suggest not buying a KitchenAid. I have the same problem with my ice maker. Have had nothing but problems with every KitchenAid product that I have ever owned. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.

All of there appliances are second rate. That is "The KitchenAid Difference"
