You may have lost the backlight inverter board.

My laptop has a black screen and i cannot give it any command and have to force shut it down

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

My sony viao laptop was working yesterday but this morning when i turned it on i saw the lights along the front as well as the CAPS, NUM and SCROLL lock, i also hear hard drive activity, but there is...

The high pitch sound could be a faulty inverter.
If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Hp g61 notebook pc bios blink error code 2 black screen led lights above num lock key and led lights to left of caps lock key flash 2 blinks.no monitor when hooked up to an external monitor.cd disc drive...

If screen and external monitor do not work then the issue lies with the video section of your laptop. The video chip is soldered onto mo bo and there is noway you can replace it if bad. Kiss your laptop sayonara, salvage the hard rive and memory and get yourself a new laptop that works. And avoid HP - their customer service is non existent after warranty runs out. They refer you to a forum or tell you to get another unit - an HP of course!

Power light comes on but not working

First you need to determine how many blinks you are getting when you try to power on the laptop. Check the blinking codes below and reason behind that for HP Compaq laptops Blinking battery power LED Battery Insufficient charge on the battery Blink: 1 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - CPU CPU not functional Blink: 2 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS corruption failure Blink: 3 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Memory Module error not functional Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Graphics Graphics controller not functional Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - System board General system board failure Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS authentication failure You need to first Remove the memory module (RAM)- Try to power on the laptop ? then again reset it and try to power on. Check whether it is coming on or not. try the same procedure with Hard drive. If laptop is getting power on after removing one of the device then we can be sure that that particular device is faulty and we can change that then? Let me know if you find any difficulties doing this.. I hope this will help you to get it work. Plz vote for me..Dreamkam

Dell e1505 no start, flashing lights.

The symptoms you've described point to a failure in the system board. You can try to remove the ram memory and reinsert them to see if this solves your error. If the error persists then most likely the failure is the motherboard itself.

Exactly same as this post.

This laptop could have a faulty RAM or motherboard, reseat the RAM memory module, to make proper electrical contact.
Next go into the BIOS configuration the check the system, hard drive etc. If this doesn't work then most likely the motherboard is faulty, especially if the Caps and Num lock LED lights are either locked on or off.
If the laptop is dead I suggest you put your money towards a new laptop, and if the hard drive is OK then remove it and put it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive (storage device).

Dell XPS M140 laptop shuts off after powering on

Most laptops that I have worked on that power off that quickly turned out to be an overheating problem. Is the cooling fan running for the brief period that you can hear the hard drive before it powers off ? If the fan is running another potential resolution might be to remove the processor and apply new thermal paste.

No video output, nobeeps from motherboard, fan comes on and hard drive spins.Gateway gt4022

Hello,
You might want to get your ram checked. Not all the time does a computer beeps when a memory is bad. Also, if you have tested the memory ok, then try another power supply, if that one is faulty, it will not be giving enough power to show on monitor. If that still isn't the problem, then it could be your video card. The way you will know if it's video card is that the keyboard light will be lighted but nothing will show on the screen. To test that press the num lock or caps lock key to see if it gets lighted. if it does, then the problem would be the video card.

Thanks and good luck. Hope this solves your problem.
