Question about GE DVL223EBWW Electric Dryer

Bought new timer for Prodigy but thought i set the wires from the old timer in proper sequence but doesnt work so maybe wrong wires on wrong terminals

    THERE is no schematic where the expert says i should check. This is a GE Prodigy model # DPR483EAOWW and the timer #WH12X10193 and I need to know if i have the terminals on the right lugs of the timer

Look at the wires. They have markings on them that match the markings on the timer. Did you check the Non-resetable limit? If it is open the dryer will not run.bought new timer for Prodigy - 89819b0.jpg

Reverify the wiring terminal connections per the schematic inside the top panel. After verification you should check the door switch for an audible click as the door is just opened or closed. If that appears to be working then the motor switch on the outside of the motor has failed.

If you have a meter check the input wire to the timer from the door switch for power. If there is no power you will need to follow the schematic and check to see if there is power to the motor switch.

Here is a typical dryer schematic:

The power on almost every basic dryer goes from L1 on the terminal block to the door switch, then to the push to start switch, then the motor and finally to the neutral connection of the terminal block. If you do not have this power anywhere go to the main CB panel and turn off the breakers (Physically push the breaker to OFF) and then back on. Recheck for power L1 to N (120V), L2 to N (120V) and then L1 to L2 (240V) If you have these voltages after resetting the Main Panel CB your dryer has the correct input power.

    The packet for the technical sheet should be inside the dryer. Usually they are innside the top panel in the envelope packet. The technical sheets are either in a 4 x 6 envelope of a 2.5 by 4 envelope that is glued to the chassis. If yours is not inside the top panel then remove the back of the dryer and look on the sides of the chassis and the back panel itself for the tech sheet envelope/packet. It can be labeled technical data or product specific data.

    the doucments from dryer are not timer specific, therefore i am still stuck i just need a darn spicific diagram of the color coded wires and which terminals they connect to

    I have looked in every GE Dryer service manual I have and do not have the model specific manual for your 483 dryer. Hopefully there is another expert that can help you with wiring terminal specific / color coding to terminal connections. I was pretty sure the tech sheet had 2 letter color codings for the wires. R=Red T=Tan BK=black WT=White etc. Some of the timer terminals are X, M, T and S. (from memory) I am pretty sure there are 4 terminals on the bottom (3 one of which has 2 terminals) 2 terminals on the side near the timer motor and 3 on the top. Without ordering the service manual for your specific Dryer I just have run out of ay other options to resolve your issue. Just being honest. Again hopefully another expert has the manual with the information you need. You may want to post this response as a quote so that other experts can see your needs. The will not see it unless you do quote my response in YOUR response as it is usually an individual response from EACH expert. I will watch the post for a day or 2 for a solution and if it is not resolved I will personally consult with other experts for you to try and get you going.

    There is one more item that can stop power from reaching the timer and that is the belt safety switch. If the drive belt is worn or the switch is out of adjustment, the dryer will NOT start.

one of the larger set of wires is your heater element common. the other one goes to the common to the sequencer line side. the control wires are smaller. one is common to the coil(s) the others go to the timers that kick in the elements one at a time for heat as it is desired.
