Your compressor is starting but the fan(s) are not running, leading to the shut-down of the unit, especially if the condenser fan doe's not operate for heat transfer off the condenser coil to remove the "latent" heat generated by the compressor so it is short cycling and will not keep running to cool this area

Why is the inside fan is not running and hearing a gurgling sound with the outside unit still running?

The gurgling sound sounds like freon is flowing thru the system pipes. Is the larger of the 2 copper tubes running cold to the touch? Hi-Low module make also be the problem. It tells the inside fan when to turn off and on.

AC not working

sounds like compressor is running but fan is not. it could be capacitor but it could also be the fan motor

Turned on AC was running fine. 30 minutes later began to hear a strange noise. Opened AC/Furnance closet & heard a sound best described as air letting out of a tire. It seemed to be coming from...

Hi!!

This means that the condenser fan motor (outside unit) failed, this caused to build hi pressure and either activated a safety valve to release the extra pressure or blew a line and R22 Refrigerant escaped from system.

The fix is to replace motor fan and capacitor find the leak and refill system with R22 Refrigerant Gas. It is safe to turn on the Fan Only mode on the Thermostat until a HVAC Tech arrives.
To perform this job parts and labor included will cost: about $300 -.$400. Look on the Yellow Pages for a Tech in your neighborhood.

Almost no air comes from the ac vents but fan is on high. This happens on auto and also on econ.

The 1992 was prior to Buick putting cabin air filters in so there is not a possibility it is clogged. So more than likely your blower motor is going bad or your fan control switch is bad. Does this problem occur with heating as well as AC? Does it change if you switch between blowing on floor, face, window(defrost) If it doesnt change based on location of blow and type of air temp then I would start by turning fan on high and placing head (ear ) against dash in center of console area. Have someone turn fan knob from low to high with engine OFF...After goign from low to high and back a few times you can see if the blower motor is responding to signal from switch. Listen for a whine, squeal, rattle, or humm. A whine or Humm would indicate a bad blower motor... Squeal or rattle a bad squirrel cage/fan blower blades. If you hear no noise and no perceivable change in blower speed/noise then its possible your switch is bad. Unfortunately the only way to definitely diagnose either is to pull the switch from dash and use multimeter to test for voltage change and for blower motor to pull dash. There is a digital control unit for your car as well. Although rare sometimes the wires on this can loosen or it can go bad. But since you didnt state teh fan wasnt working at all and you are getting cool air, that woudl be teh last thing to check

Refrigerator is not cold or freezing in freezer.

the gurgling sound is normal, its the freon inside the evap. .the compressors also runs at a very high temp. , there is only 1 fan that circulates cold air, there is another fan but it is the cond. fan which blows hot air located at the bottom near the floor

RUDD A/C not running, only fan

ok it unit is a central I'm suspecting a voltage transformer is defective you see these units need 24v to turn on certain components but if your air handler turns on, your getting 24v to the fan relay, the problem would be elsewhere. if your handy with a volt meter open the thermostat(if applicable) put the meter on ac volts and measure to see if there's 24v between the R and Y terminals

if so your cooling contactor is defective. (If you get 24 v and unit outside dosen't turn on) if there isn't some fuse on the air handler control board blew out.

Compressor turns on but not the fan.

Jeannine, on this model there is one motor that turns both the evaporator and condensor fans. First you want to check to see if there is any obstruction preventing the fans from turning. There is also a dual capacitor that gives this motor a kick start. If this goes bad the motor will not run, just humm. Hopefully it is just your capacitor that has failed but it could be the motor itself. Part number for the capacitor is 16-05-00710-109. Part number for the motor is 50-11-t26p0-050. Usually a bad capacitor will show signs of leaking or bulging, but not always...Catriver..post back
