Hp touchsmart 300

From the User Guide at... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4174137&

The wireless keyboard and mouse are pre-synchronized, for your convenience, to work with your

HP TouchSmart PC. The keyboard and mouse should work immediately after you pull the battery tabs to

activate the preinstalled batteries, and then turn on the mouse (A).

You may need to manually synchronize the wireless keyboard or mouse if they are not functioning.

To synchronize them:

Make sure the keyboard and mouse are next to the HP TouchSmart PC, within 30 cm (1 foot) and

away from interference from other devices.

Keyboard: Press the Connect button on the bottom of the keyboard (B) for five seconds. The blue

activity LED on the wireless receiver illuminates when the synchronization command has been received

and turns off when synchronization is complete.

Mouse: Press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse (C) for five seconds. The blue activity

LED on the wireless receiver illuminates when the synchronization command has been received and

turns off when synchronization is complete.

If this does not work, remove and then re-insert the wireless keyboard and mouse receiver from the back of
the computer and then synchronize the keyboard and mouse again.

I'd try to change the USB port where the receiver is connected. If this "new" port was not used yet, the windows will (re)install the drivers to make the device works in the USB port. If this doesnt work, provide us more detais (model of keyboard, e.g.)

I have an Averatec all in one and how do you connect the wireless mouse?

Wireless mice have two parts. The mouse which needs regular battery charging and the receiver. The receiver is a USB device that plugs into any of the USB ports on the back (near the DVI port) or on the side below the audio jacks. Plugging into a USB hub is an option but can give an extra area of trouble-shooting when it fails.

If the port doesn't work, try a different one. Check that the USB ports aren't disabled for security or power-savings. Make sure the receiver is showing that it is active and that the mouse has good batteries.

One of the biggest issues can be waking from sleep with a USB device. This is changed in the advanced power savings in Windows.

I hope this helps.

(since my wired mice need to be replaced every few years, I suspect wireless mice have similar failure issues.)

Just bought an eMachine (ET1831-03) with Windows Home Premium. Now my Lexmark Z700 doesnt work.(it is old, about 5 yrs) I get messages to trouble shoot, but when I follow this, I end up with the message...

As far as I can tell, Lexmark has not updated the drivers for this printer and has no plans to do so. You have a few choices: 1) upgrade your OS to either Win7 Professional or Win7 Ultimate, install the XP mode and then install the printer as a device on the virtual machine.
2) Get a new printer that is compatible with your OS.

I wish I could be of more help.

The built in mouse has stopped working on the laptop. any ideas for what i can do to fix it myself

Hello,
You could try some of the following things in the order listed that may help you solve the problem you are having with your laptop mouse.
1. Clean the mouse pad extremely well. Sometimes they can get greasy from the oils that occur naturally on our skin and can cause the device not to function properly.
2. Check your BIOS to make sure that no changes have occurred that would prevent the device from working.
3. The device drivers may have become corrupted or outdated. You can check the manufacturer's website for the proper drivers or you can possibly download them from drivers.com, driversguide.com, or mrdriver.com. to name a few.
These suggestions may help solve your problem, but there could be deeper issues that may be causing your mouse to not function properly and may require a technician to repair it.

Good luck and if you would not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

PC doens't boot up HELP!

There are a few things you can try, the trouble shooting doesnt necessarily have to follow in this order. Best thing I can suggest is try re-seating the processor, and if that is the only stick of RAM you are using see if you can find another to test with. If it still doesnt work after either of those, you might have to try a different processor. Granted, this is if you have those parts on hand. If you still are unable to even get a POST beep, then I would also try snatching the CMOS battery, unpluging it and then hitting the powerbutton reset the CMOS to default settings. If it still doesnt work after you get back then there, then I would snatch every removable piece of hardware from the board down to just the processor/heatsink/fan, memory, and PSU. If you get a POST beep after that, then try adding one piece of hardware at a time until you find the problem piece. If it still doesnt work then there is a pretty good chance that the board is dead.

1 USB Port Failure

Hi Guys

Unfortunately after looking at the computer installation details i was at fault, although i have had
the computer for well over 2 years and this is the first time it has happened.
My Dell Dimension 5150 has 7 USB ports 5 at the back and 2 in the front and it appears that i have
connected the keyboard and mouse to the wrong ports.
There are two ports at the bottom allocated for the keyboard and mouse and for some reason i had
them in the top three ports hence my problem but still not sure why it happened.
Anyway my Dell Dimension 5150 is now running OK and no further help is needed.

Many Thanks.

Frozen mouse with a touch pad laptop computer

Check your drivers. Go into the device manager (start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager>human interface device) . If it shows a big yellow question mark, than it is a driver problem.

I would suggest that you either install or download the latest drivers for the mouse, and you can do this even without checking for a hardware conflict as stated above.

You can also access the control panel and trouble shoot your mouse through the mouse icon.

Even sometimes this may not work.....

I had an IBM brand optical mouse that continually plague me with problems until I gave it away with a computer that I built. The person who has it is still have occasionally issues with the mouse even with the proper drivers installed. I believe that it is a connection issue because sometimes the mouse will start working when you jiggle the male USB connection.
