Re: what do i do if a disk can not be read?
You can try a disc cleaner that you can buy from FYE or best buy. If that does not work look through the manual and find info for the company. There should be a way to send the disk in and they will send you another (this cost from $7-$15most of the time)

3)Choose one of the methods to try and fix disk Polishing disk
-Use air first (blow across disk, or use a soft brush to remove any specks from disk before polishing)

-Use wet side of cloth to clean shiny side of disk
-Dry whole disk (dry polishing cloth)
-Put it in Xbox Using soap or water
-Use soap or windex-slightly wet paper towel to wipe off disk from middle towards outside

-Cover entire shiny side of disk with powder
-Wait 5-10 mins
-Clean powder off completely with soft damp cloth

-Take disk to game/computer shop
-If any of your friends has game, borrow disk from them, install it to hard drive, and hope Xbox recognises it
Your disk may be damaged. If it has scratches on it that can cause major problems. But the worst problems are caused by fingerprints. Fingerprints prevent the laser from reading the data on the disk. If your disk has fingerprints, run it under the water faucett and, using a soft cloth (the kind you would clean eyeglasses with), wipe from the center to the outside of the disk, not in a circle. If the problem persists, the Halo 3 data on your hard drive may be corrupted. Delete the data and try starting the game then.
If it does not read any games at all the disc reader (sensor) is shot if you still have a warranty call the xbox customer service center they will help you on sending your xbox to repair it if your warranty expired you should buy another xbox 360
If its not doing anythng you may have a hard disk problem? I cant guarante this as you have not given enough information. Do you get an error message? or any message at all other than cant read disk? you are obviously using the internet...take a look at the microsoft.com website....put into the search 'XBOX360' see what is comes up with..you may find your answer there.
If the screen then turns to black and says in a bunch of different languages, and a code that says E 62, then basically what you have to do is to take out the disk, and wipe it inside out with a soft cloth. A smooth inside to outside motion, BUT NOT and inside to outside and back to inside motion, ect. And then restart it again.
I do believe its a problem with the disk. The disk may not be scratched or anything but it could possibly something internally wrong with it. I'd take the disk back and exchange it. Hope this helped! Have a great day!
