Does the file end in .exe?
It sounds like you have downloaded a Windows executable to a Macintosh system, and when you click on it it opens in the text editor, which displays the binary contents of the program, which usually contains the message "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."
Windows executables cannot be run on Macintosh computers unless you have also installed Windows, either under Boot Camp or under a virtual machine monitor such as Parallels or Fusion.

What happens wen rtc Batt is unloaded

Hello. batt files or batch files are used by your operating system to run a list of commands created by ms-dos or by you. A good example of a batch file is the autoexec.bat which is loaded each time the computer boots to MS-DOS. Batch files are like shortcuts on your desktop, when they are run they pass information through the command line and these sets of instructions run commands or programs on your computer. Did that help?

I want to open imesh and it says it cannot open it with DOS mode on so how do you turn it off?

I can only give a generalized answer as you did not specify the Operating System you are attempting this with. Vista/7: Right click on the imesh application icon. Select "properties" and find the compatability mode tab or section. Select "run this program in compatability mode for" windows XP sp3.
That should fix the issue. DOS mode does not run Natively on any version of windows later than XP.

Fair warning: Imesh is quite outdated and belongs in the junk pile. Update to downloading through torrent sites with a program called utorrent (www.utorrent.com) and use sites like piratebay.org

How do you turn of DOS mode on and Apple Mac?

If you are running OSX, .exe files are windows only, there is no DOS mode in this OS.

Device driver will not install; error msg "Access Denied"

Ok so i was searching around the internet and found a similar problem with another monitor so for giggles i tried there method. This is the website where i found it : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/itprovistahardware/thread/d7c0e5bd-2fcf-48ff-a79b-c157014fc821/#page:3

The Second Entry has a download. Download it then extract the files to the desktop. Dont worry if you get errors when the program runs it will fix them, if they come up just press enter to keep going. Once the program completes install the driver again and it should work as it did for me.

If you cant get to that website heres the post from it:
"Ok, once again i checked updates for HP My Display/Drivers, and found this:
http://www.portrait.com/dtune/hpw/enu/support_help.html

Here is a direct link to fix for "Access Denied" issue (HP LCD Monitors & Vista):
http://download.portrait.com/DRVFix.zip

Download DRVFix.zip. The fix contains 3 files including this readme. All must be in to the same folder.
  • readme.txt - This file
  • RestoreDisp.exe - Executable required to restore permissions. DO NOT RUN THIS FILE
  • DVRFIX.exe - Run this file in Administrator mode after reading the instructions completely
To perform the fix do the following:
  1. Extract all files in to a folder on your desktop
  2. Open the folder, right click on the DVRFIX.exe file and choose "Run As Administrator"
  3. Follow the on screen instructions. When complete, you should be able to install your drivers

If you find this helpful, please let me know.

I fixed this issue manually (from registry), about month ago.
But gladly i found this help file, by mistake. emotion-1.gif

Vesa"

I need to download a program that requires windows and my computer says the program wont run in dos mode how do i get it to work?

if the program requires windows that means it was design to work with windows and not with DOS.. you may want to get an old version of the program that will actually run under DOS.. usually you may be able to do the opposite which is to run DOS program on windows.

if possible try to get a DOS version of the program you are trying to run, or better.. upgrade your operating sytem so you can run your program and possibly other DOS programs.

post the program you are looking to download and confirm what operation system you're running and I'll try to look for it with you.

No boot up

Solution :
  • Run chkdsk /r or chkdsk /f to detect and resolve any file system structural damage.
  • After you use the Chkdsk tool to repair the corrupted NTFS volume, rename %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers\Ntfs.old to Ntfs.sys, and then shut down and restart the computer.
  • Try disabling any virus scanning programs, backup programs, or disk defragmenter tools that constantly monitor your computer.
  • Run any system diagnostics that are supplied by your computer manufacturer, especially a HDD check.

Use Notepad and open up the login.BAT file. There are a number of things in the bat file which you need to change and replace with your own information!
