Sounds like a bad power supply issue. If you have the warranty and it is still viable, I suggest you turn it into sony. If not you might want to pick up another power supply unit. Keep in mind not only cable itself could be bad but the circuit board could have problems with some of the resistors or transistors not functioning properly.

How can i connect a playstation 3, i have tried dvi-d port the screen says out of range?

Hi,
Try to reset PlayStation for that do the following
Press Hold the Power button for about 30 seconds. You'll hear three rapid beeps and your PS3 will turn itself off.
Wait a few seconds, then press the Power button to turn it back on. Don't turn it on using the controller, as it may not detect the PS3.

Hello, I think You should have a cooling fan that can cool it from heat. Because the cause of that problem is that the prossesor is over heated and it cant contiune. So you have to take out of power for sometime (1 hour or more) then try it again. If you need me call on me back.

If its an unwanted christmas present, I'm guessing its still under warranty, so call sony. They'll fix it for free. Your problem sounds a bit...irregular.

Playstation 3 power issue

Your system has overheated. If it doesn't get on at all anymore, you should get it fixed in the place you bought it from. That happened to me.

I have been playing my playstation 3 on a regular Hd tv and it worked fine but now it wont connect to my Protron (HDMI) tv with my HDMI cable.

you have to reset the video setting and it will work again Hdmi is different on each tv so you have set this up again ok let's do this with the unit off turn the main switch on the back of the unit connect your Hdmi cable to your tv now place your finger on the front on/off switch keep your finger there ok now turn the mainswitch on the back of the unit the playstation turns on but don't remove your finget yet wait about 4 seconds or until your heard another bip (not the one when the playstation turns on) once you heard this bip remove your finger before the playstation turns off if you let it turn off try again all of this but if you remove your finger on time just wait few more seconds and bingo you have picture again using Hdmi
