Question about GE Profile Arctica 25.4 Cubic Feet Side-By-Side Refrigerator With Dispenser PSS25MGMWW

1 Answer

The electricity went off yesterday while we were gone (not sure how long) and the freezer is no longer staying cold. The ice maker hasn't made any ice and it has melted on top of the other food. We have a G.E. Profile Artica double door refrigerator, about 8 years old. The fans seem to be running.

Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

Samusung RFG297HDRS Ice maker not cold enough to produce ice.

Suspect that the rubber boot that runs all around the edge of your freezer door is deformed, allowing warm air to seep into your freezer. You will see where your temp sensor is located by clicking into the site of a parts supplier like ShopJimmy.com and pulling up their photo of the guts of your unit.

Water to ice maker leaking in freezer

I emptied out my freezer. Turned it off and made sure it was dry and clean. Then I turned it back on, but left the metal wire that controls the ice maker up so water wouldn't fill until freezer was cold enough. When cold enough, I dropped the metal wire down and kept a close watch of the filling process. Everything went smoothly. No problems in this first 24 hours. I think ice must have built up and letting it thaw and dry made the difference.

Freezer seems as if it is not cold enough

Your sensor is packed in ice and giving false reading (always frozen)

You NEED to defrost. Will take 2hr

Turn off or Pull plug on freezer
Take everything out and put in cooler, brown bags, large bin or boxes to stay cold
Defrost by setting large pail of boiling water in each side bottom of freezer and closing door(s) for 1/2hr
Open freezer, empty pails in sink and use pails to hold large chunks of ice from freezer that will come out easily
Toss out ice chunks
Check sensor to be sure it is no longer packed in ice
Wipe down interior dry
close doors
plug in
wait 1/2hr
reload with stuff you want to keep
Done!

Freezer not freezing

Check to see if the fan motor in the freezer is running. Most likely it is not circulating the cold air Also make sure the defrost drain line is clear and has drained out. A frozen sheet of ice will restrict airflow also

Ice maker on G E refrigator

If you have low water pressure to the ice maker it can cause the unit to stick. If the water fill is ok then the ice maker is going out or the freezer is not staying cold enough. Icemaker has to reach about 12 degrees to cycle.
