If the plug fuse is ok, there sounds like a more serious earth fault which needs checking before using again. If you are not used to electrical repairs, then use a service technician.

Welder when turn on trips the breaker

Would you write back and clarify what steps you have taken to narrow down your search? I'd like to know if the breaker is weak and needs to be replaced. Have you plugged your welder into another receptacle to see if it trips that breaker? I don't think the trigger has to do with this problem. The symptom is that as soon as you turn the welder on, it then trips the breaker. So this tells me that the electrical cord is not shorted. When the breaker trips, is there any delay or is it instant? If there is a delay, does it sound like it does while you are welding? Do you hear that "Transformer, buzzing noise"? The trigger activates the feed motor, that alone isn't enough to trip this breaker. Which make and size welder do you have? I really am dependent on detailed information, you are my eyes and ears. Please write back with any questions or new details and I'll do my best to help, good luck.

Main breaker doesnt stay turned on

Tripping of the main breaker could be an indication of a short or an overload. To check for an overload you will need an amprobe to test the amperage load on the breaker. Turn all the secondary breakers off. Attach the amprobe by clamping it around one power wire. Turn the breakers on one at a time and check the reading of the amprobe. Most breakers will handle about 80 % of the breaker rating before tripping. If it trips below this point the breaker may be weak and will need to be replaced. If the amprobe pegs out at any time and the breaker trips the secondary breaker that was last turned on probably has a short in its wiring somewhere. Cuasing the breaker to trip. Underground wirng that has gone bad can sometimes take a while to trip the breakers so if there is any underground feeders it may be more difficult to track down a short. If the problem is an overload check both hot wire to see if the load is equal if the load is a lot higher on one leg than the other switching some circuits to the lower side may help. If the total load is just too high you may have to increase your service to a larger size. Hope -this helps

Furnace keeps tripping the breaker changed breaker and wires all good up to the furnace still keeps tripping when i try to turn power on. nothing happened to the furnace and the wires were tested up to the...

Disconnect the black power wire where it is connected to the furnace with breaker off. Put a wire nut on it and then turn the breaker on. If it continues to trip, the problem is not the furnace and you will have to trace the power wire back to the breaker box to find problem. Next, disconnect the black wire from the breaker (with breaker off) and then snap breaker on. If it trips, bad breaker. If the furnace was disconnected and breaker did not trip, you have a short either on the P C Board or the transformer.

My breaker is conected to a hot tub. tub was working fine in auto mode. Turned on jets and breaker tripped. will not reset can you help me

I am assuming this is a GFCI circuit breaker? If it is it will have a "test" button on the breaker. When you say "jets" i'm assuming you mean when you turn on the blower to make the air bubbles? It could be you have a problem with the blower motor. When you start the blower, it trips the breaker. Be sure the blower is in off position when you reset the breaker. The most common fault though on a spa/hot tub is with the heater. If the element goes bad, and current flows to ground, it will trip the GFCI breaker. Again try and turn all functions off. Reset breaker, and then turn on one at a time till the breaker trips. First the pump, then the heat, then the blower.

Eaton Arc Fault Breaker type BRAF tripped. I reset it but lights will not work. Ideas please?

My arc fault breaker trips in my bedroom when ever a load is put on line. The trunk line comes into a three gang switch box and feeds the entire room. At times I can turn my ceiling fan and light on for 10 to 20 minutes before the breaker trips. Other times the breaker will trip when either switch is first turned on. I plugged a 4 watt night light in a wall receptical, without the ceiling light or fan on, it also trips the breaker. I have had other plug in lamps, 60 watt, work in other recepticals for a while. The problem seems to appear in all recepticals and lighting in the room.

20amp breaker tripped unexpectly tonight. tried resetting at panel but won't click all the way over and little red indicator also on the breaker

Hello, In order to reset circuit breakers that have tripped under load, you must first flip the breaker all the way OFF, before you can then turn the breaker back ON. This should reset the breaker to turn the power back on to the circuit supplied by this breaker.

The red indicator is just there to make it easier to find the tripped breaker. Typically, the red indicator flag is a special feature of Square D QD breakers and panels.

If the breaker immediately trips again and doesn't stay on, then the device it is providing power to, still has a fault and it needs to be looked at to determine what is causing the fault and the tripping of the breaker.

Be sure to turn the breaker OFF if you are going to check the device for potential problems.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

You have to test the voltage to verify that the breaker did reset. Unplug the dryer, and verify that you have 240 volts at the receptacle

this is going to be a long process, you have a short on the line or the breaker is gone.
you need to unplug all of the appliances that are on that line. (controlled by that breaker).
turn on the breaker. plug in one appliance at a time till the breaker trip again. unplug the last appliance that you have plugged in. that will be the cause of the short.
after all appliance unplugged and still trip the breaker, then you need a new breaker.
