Stratford model fan - a grinding noise and no high speed

The Hunter Stratford Ceiling fan has been installed and running without noise or any problems for 6 months and then just yesterday a grinding sound started and there is no high speed anymore. When you pull the chain to start the fan a grinding noise is made and the blades turn slowly. When changing to the medium gear the speed increases but the grinding remains and finally low gear speed seems normal but the grinding sound is still there. What is causing this? The fan is only seen 6 months of use...

SOURCE: blade problem

The Hunter web site should have them. If not I have found simular ones at Radio Shack and also have ordered them from parts suppliers like Mouser, Digi-key, Allied electronics Mat electronics. All of which can be found and ordered from online.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling speed.

A fan that old has a muilti speed capacitor. It could be that or the swicth. First thing to do is test the swicth with a voltage tester to see if power is switched to different posts if it does switch it is prob. the cap. Good luck trying to find one.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling fan-just installed -possible speed control problem

Sounds like the fan is defective. All internal wiring from the switch to the motor is factory installed. The fan has power going to it. Just to make sure, double check the wiring from the ceiling fixture to the fan.
Problem could be a faulty switch on the fan or faulty motor(bad winding for med. speed). Try reverse switch on the fan to operate the opposite direction and see if medium speed works. If medium does work in opposite direction, it pretty much points to a defective fan. In any case, unless you discover that the ceiling wires were reversed going into the fan, I'd say new fan to the returns dept.

I just replaced the switch in my hunter ceiling fan. I put L - black; 1 - gray; 2 - brown; 3 - green. Now the problem is that it won't turn off. I just have 3 speeds that go faster. This is not...

You got the wrong switch!!!! Just because it looks the same on the outside(switch) doesn't mean it's the same on the inside. Call 1-888-830-1326 with your model # and order the correct switch.
The model # will be 5 digits starting with a 2

Trying to remove the Hunter Stratford II 52" ceiling fan. The canopy ring rotates approximately 1/4 turn but does not release.

Page 8 of the model 20761 Hunter ceiling fan shows how to remove the canopy trim ring. Ours had double stick tape holding the brushed nickel to a plastic trim ring. Dropped it, then squeezed the plastic ring.

After installation the whole fan wobbles. it is standard installation

The most important thing about installing a ceiling fan is to use the proper ceiling box, one that is approved and very firmly fastened to the ceiling joists. If this is not done and the fan is only attached to an existing ceiling box, it may end up being out of balance and wobbling, not to mention being very dangerous.

52 inch hunter ceiling fan with remote, making clicking noise

does the fan wobble at high speed? if so change the order of the blades to try & balance it.i.e. number the blades on a piece of tape on each--switch blade # 1 & #3-better or worse? 2&5;better or worse?etc. untill it runs smoothest.

Fan makes grinding noise when on speeds two and three. . . sounds fine on slow

The bearings are wearing out, speeds two and three are exerting enough force that the bearings are grinding, slow speed does not have enough force to do this. Soon enough, slow speed will make that noise and the fan will ultimately stop working. Have an electrician come in to look at it, if it is still under warranty, call Hunter.
