Question about Nintendo DS Lite
Can't stress enough the important of having the correct software. There are a few R4is and each require their own individual software. There are also a couple that won't work on DSi after the new update. If you have one of those like the R4i Gold prior to August 2009 then you'll need to pick up an upgraded card like the M3i Zero which will work on all DS systems.
If you're looking to get genuine cards for your ds (there are fakes out there), take a look here, http://www.dscardworld.com. I managed to find this site after I got burned at a few others. Loved having my emails responded to because I had loads of questions, and they were quick to ship it. US based support and shipping I believe.

Back up the cards to your PC. Format the microchip using fat32 or 16 and reinstall the firmware making sure you are usinf the proper firmware for that card. There are many variants of the R4 and the website to download the firmware is commonly provided. A fresh reinstall should work. If your still having problems make sure the R4i is 1.4 Fixed and you try not to exceed 2G even if the card states SDHC compatible.
