Hello,

Turn the garbage disposal on and off quickly and check to see if it has power. If it hums, the power is on. Move on to step 3. If it doesn't hum, it may have overheated and tripped a circuit breaker. Move on to step 2.

Restore power to the machine. Most disposals have an overload switch that trips when the motor starts to overheat. To reset the switch, look for a small red button on the bottom of the housing, and if it's there, push it in. If your disposal doesn't have an overload switch or the machine still won't run after you reset the switch, reset the circuit breaker that serves the disposal.

Clear the jam from underneath. On many disposals, you can insert a 1/4-inch (6-mm) Allen (hex) wrench into the bottom of the housing and manually move the motor shaft and flywheel to dislodge the jam. If your disposal has an opening for an Allen (hex) wrench, insert the wrench and move it back and forth until the motor and flywheel turn freely.

Press the end of a short broomstick against one of the impellers, and jab in one direction and then the other until it breaks loose.

This should fix the problem.

Take care.

My dishwasher didn't drain the water out on the end of the clicle? What could be the problem?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.I would start where your drain line connects to the house drain,This is where most blocked drains happen. Disconnect the drain line and put it in a bucket and try to drain the dishwasher. Chances are its blocked somewhere you just have to find it.
Thank You and please ACCEPT my answer and Rate my answer if it was helpful..

Never have used a garbage disposal, now after 4 month and using it only about 30 times the water in the sink will not drain. When I turn on the garbage disposal the water in the sink swirls so I know it is...

hello fowl..... you have a blockage in the garbage disposal. you can use a chemical drain cleaner and pour it into the sink where the disposal is located. you should also look into that drain with a flashlight to make sure that there is not a fork or some other object causing the blockage. If you do not choose to use the chemical, you can also disconnect the disposal using the wrench that should be under the sink where the disposal is located. if you choose this method, have a pail handy to catch the water. also unplug the disposal before you work on it. Garbage disposal is not clogged: I can freely turn it with my socket when placed on the center nut. However, when I flip the wall switch to turn it on I can hear the motor trying to "fire" up but...

Your motor is damaged and is not worth repairing on a garbage disposal. Recommend you get online and look for a good waste king disposal. They have the best warranties, incredible prices, lifetime corrosion warranty, have 1000 rpm's faster than the other brands so the food is liquified for the septic systems, and I have never seen one that was jammed in 36 yrs. of service!
