The dial is turned by electric motor and it should have power.

I am trying to learn how to set up the T104 timer etc. I just moved in and there is no manual how to set timer.

Here are two links that will be handy to keep on file:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-Intermatic-timer.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html

T104 is 240Volt timer.
When you open the door, there should be piece of translucent plastic covering the wiring.
As long as plastic cover is in place, it is safe to touch visible timer parts.
If you have a child who might stick something into the timer, then lock timer door.
As a general rule with electrical devices, do not stand on bare ground or wet surface or lean into or touch anything metal while working on timer. Put down dry boards. Same with your circuit breaker panel.

The T104 yellow dial rotates just like a clock.
The dial has ON and OFF trippers attached to outer edge of dial.
As these trippers rotate around they move on-off lever that turns the pool pump or Load on and off.
ON tripper moves lever one direction, and OFF tripper moves same lever other direction.
The manual override lever clicks back and forth with audible sound each time tripper moves on-off lever.

Move manual override back and forth and it will turn Load on and off.
Override should snap crisp and clean.

To set timer, lift and rotate dial until current time lines up with stationary silver pointer.
Stationary silver pointer is pointed at 6:00.

We can't figure out how to set our timer. Where and what are the segmented pins. Nothing is labeled. There is no diagram with the timer. Thank-you. Joy and Fred.

Hi Joy and Fred.
You posted under Woods outdoor timer, but don't give specific brand or model
Open following links for detailed information and illustrations:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#troubleshoot
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59383

Segments are usually on outer edge of dial.
Some timers the segments lift up, some push down, some pull up and out, etc.
Use a fingernail or small tool and fiddle around with it.
Some timers have pins located on dial face that click inward or outward. Use small tool and move them in and out.
Some timers have trippers that you attach to outer edge of dial.
If you are confused, open links above for illustrations.

After moving some segments-pins. Plug lamp into timer.
Turn lamp on. Plug timer into outlet.
Manually rotate timer dial and watch how lamp turns on-off.
Move timer switch both directions and manually rotate dial to see lamp turn on-off.
These tests will show you how to set pin-segments-trippers and switch for your specific timer.

The timer dial rotates as time passes. The dial is a simple clock that rotates because of a clock motor.
The dial causes segments-pins move small lever that turns lamp on-off.
Just like any clock, the correct time has to be set. To do this: rotate dial until current time lines up with arrowhead located on inner dial.

I want to reset the timer for hours of on-off for out water heater but can't figure out how to push the little white teeth in or out. Model is 265-1.

1) Open following link to read about re-circulation systems:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

2) Image below show typical FM1 analog timer dial with pins:
Move pins with fingernail or small tool.
To test if pins need to be moved in or out, set pins each direction and manually rotate dial clockwise and listen when pump turns on-off.
How timer operates: clock motor rotates dial continually, pins on dial move lever that turns circuit on-off.
To set current time, manually rotate dial clockwise until current time lines up with arrowhead located on inner dial.
Some timers have a selector switch: move switch to Auto, or Timer, or Timer ON. Again you can manually rotate dial and check which setting is correct.

I cannot figure out how to set my outdoor timer to control my Christmas lights. How do I set the pins?

There are 4 basic pins/tabs/segments for timers
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#Pins-tabs

Pins move back and forth
Segments lift up
Segments pull out
Segments push down

Each type of pins/segments are located on dial.
Dial rotates as time passes.
The pins/segments contact on-off lever and cause lever to move.
Lever movement opens and closes electrical contacts.
The little plastic parts and motors wear out.

Make sure pins/segments are pushed all the way into place.
Check override switch is clicked to TIMER
Rotate dial until current time lines up with arrowhead marker
To check operation of timer, manually rotate dial to watch lights turn on-off.

Troubleshoot:
Lights must be on.
Bulbs are good.
Receptacle has power.
Check timer in different receptacle.
If dial does not rotate or pins/segments don't turn lights on-off, timer might be bad.

Power is good going into the timer but the timer is not running. I am wondering if there is a fuse that needs to be changed or a reset switch? The timer has been replaced in the last year.

If I understand correctly, you have T-104 240V timer.
Timer was running fine before, and recently stopped working.
If this is not your timer, add a comment.

1) Click manual override back and forth to see if Load turns on-off.
If Load does not turn on-off, then check power at Load.
Timer has 5 terminals A 1 2 3 4
Check terminals 2 and 4 for 240Volts when Load is ON

2) Check terminals 1 and 3 for 240Volts to make sure timer has full 240V and breaker is not tripped OFF on one leg. If timer has 120V, it appears to have voltage, but clock will not rotate and Load will not turn on-off. Check breaker for 240V across both screws.

3) Is dial rotating?
If dial is not rotating or is stuck in place, replace 208-277V clock motor.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-Time-Clock-Motor-1PNK2?Pid=search

4) If dial is rotating, but trippers don't flip on-off lever, then trippers may be worn down. Buy new trippers.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-Timer-Tripper-2E054?Pid=search

5) How to wire T104 timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html

How timer works
:
Clock motor rotates dial.
ON-OFF trippers on dial contact lever.
ON tripper pushes lever one direction.
OFF tripper pushes lever other direction.
Lever moves electrical contacts together, or pulls contacts apart.
When lever moves on-off, manual override lever also snaps back and forth with audible clicking sound.

Can't seem to figure it out. Directions are not specific enough. We set "the time now", but the white/AM, dark/PM is weird. Please help w/ directions. We need the light for chicken house. Light on 5:00 AM...

What kind of Woods timer do you have?

Is the dial turning? The dial is the clock. And the clock needs electricity to work, just like alarm clock. If dial is not turning, the wiring is not right.

Does the manual override turn on the lights? Maybe the slider switch set to OFF? Set slider to "Timer" for timer functions to work.

Wall timer:
If you have 59017 wall timer, it has dark PM white AM. You rotate dial until correct time lines up with little triangle located on right side of center knob.
7e3b45a.jpg

There are 48 plastic pins on dial ... when pins are moved out, the lights are off. For timer functions, set slide switch to 'Timer'
Correct wiring is needed for timer to work:
Timer black attaches to Hot wire from breaker box
Timer red attaches to wire going to Load (lights)
Timer white must attach to white Neutral (or if your box has no neutral, connect white to bare ground)
Timer green connects to bare ground

If wiring seems right but dial on front of timer is still not rotating, then reverse Timer red and Timer black and see if that sorts out problem.

If this is wrong Woods timer, please re-post question.

How do i reset and restart my intermatic T104p3 after power outage? the gears don't turn and the timer is new.

You should be able to grab the timer dial and pull towards you, now spin either direction to the desired time. If you are at a time where the clock is about to turn on or off you may have to move it a little bit more or less

Time clock face doesn't move

make sure that you see the gears turning inside through the inspection port above and to the right of the dial. Make sure the dial is set to the proper time and that it pushed in to place when released. You pull the yellow dial toward you to set the time, if it does not go back (spring loaded), then there is a problem and you can try to seal the dial manually as sometimes the gears done line up. Also make sure the on/off trippers are not interfering with the dial going back into place.

Set the self timer on a Kodak EasyShare Z760

Turn on the camera, click menu button. The first option is a little clock picture on the left, and on the right top corner of the screen it should say "self timer". Click the little button on the dial with your thumb and a menu comes up "self timer ON, OFF". Move up, click "ON" and it is set for your next photo to self shoot. You have to do this for each photo.
