Question about Craftsman Garden
I have a Craftsman 4.6 amp "Hasslefree" (what a laugh!) Head and refills to go with it. Trouble is, after about three feet in operation, the refill cord breaks and has to be replaced. Some of it fuses and is hard to remove.
I also have a Frigidaire Home Products Weedeater Twist'n Edge with a reel. Here too, after about three feet the cord breaks and has to be pulled out. Sometimes it won't move. On this device you're supposed to press down to release more cord, but pressing down does nothing, the cord doesn't move.
Any solution to either or both?

those are usaully under your pull start cover and if its broke you can buy a new rope but if its broke near handle i would open it and retie it to save ya money. but remember to wind spring a little to keep tension on it before pushing it through the hole for handle.

SOURCE: broken pull cord
ur going to have to unmount the the motor from the shaft
step 1. Unbolt throttle housing
step 2. now with that out of the way u should see a clamp holding the motor to the shaft, loosen and pull the shaft out, there will be a cable, so make sure u have it lined up so it goes back into place
step 3, look at the back of the motor, u should see screws going into the plastic housing (coming in from back going into plastic)
step 4. once that is off pull the broken part of the cord out
step 5. wind up the starter coil, (it will only wind up one way) its spring loaded so be carful, once it stops back it off 1 full turn
step 6. u will see a hole for the cord in the housing and in the coil, make sure they are lined up
step 7. insert the cord through both holes, tie it as tighttttt as possible, then let the spring do the rest
step 8. put it back together
