Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

The first thing to check would be the water fill valve located usually on the back outside of the unit where the water line comes in, these can start leaking water slowy into the icemaker. The icemaker itself tells the valve how long tostay opened, that can be adjusted by a tech or you may need to replace the icemaker

I set the ice maker feature to make cubes with my samsung refrigerator rs2555sw. But the ice maker makes a ice chunk. All the cubes are frozen together with a flat and thick layer of ice on top..

Hi and welcome to Fixya.

Remove the front cover after the ice tray has dumped cubes and remove all of the water from your ice maker tray.

Then depress the test button on the bottom of the icemaker (in front on bottom) located about 1 inch from the lower rh corner.

The icemaker fill cycle should add just enough water to cover barely cover the tray. (see page 32 of the 25 Sept 2005 user's manual)

If it is overfilling the icemaker fill time / water level needs to be reduced on the ice maker module. A normal fill cycle is about 7.5 seconds.

Another thing that will cause larger cubes is high water supply (utility co) pressure.

A temporary fix would be to slowly close the refridgerator water supply line's shut off vavle so that the water flow restricts.

The real solution is to investigate ice maker fill time, and the function of the icemaker water supply solenoid vavle for possible Delayed closing of the internal diaphram.

Water leaks out of ice making trays with making

What model is this? Is the unit leveled? DO you have flakes in the cubes? Is the fill tube pointing downward> there should be a clip that holds the filltube down. If all this is ok then remove the cover of the icemaker. Is the gears corroided? If so then I would recommend to replace the faceplate. This would change the motor 2 switches and the gears. Part #150 should fix it.
If your getting flakes then you need to replace the icemaker. If the fill tube clip is missing then you will need to replace this.

Icemaker not producing ice

you need to troubleshoot the problem, if the wire arm that tells the ice maker to stop making ice when full is in the upright position the ice maker will not make ice. the problem has to be either the switch on this arm malfunction. but probably in MOST cases it is your electronic water valve which has gone out. this is located on the water supply line on the back of the fridge at the bottom probably behind some cardboard or plastic. it is the same kind of water valve as a dishwasher uses, if it malfunctions it will not deliver water to your tray, manually fill the tray and put the arm down, if the maker dispenses the ice out of the tray, chances are your electronic valve is broken.

Icemaker leaks into freezer compartment

MDG,
Sometimes the drainage inlet for the defrost can get clogged and then the frost has no place to go (usually an evaporator pan at the base of the fridge) have you ever felt the side walls or within the fridge and it was warm? When it is working the tray heats to rid the fridge of the frost. The DYI solution is simple but can be frustrating. If the freezer is on top and you can remove the drip tray and the contents for that matter and see the inlet all the way in the back most likely covered in ice, turn of the fridge throw a bunch of towels togeter with sponges and buckets and le the fridge thaw out for the day sopping out all of the water. If you can get to the inlet squirk some hot water with a turkey baster down into the hole and listen for the flow out into the bottom into the tray. Take the back off of the fridge (or access panel at the botom) to see the evap tray. If it is totally dry and looks like it has been for a while then it hasn't been draining. Usually unless a waterline is leaking or broken ice formation is a faulty defrost, huge amounts of continuous water is a leaking suply line. The frustraing part of the DYI solution is if you don't get the blockage free from the line (usually a clear tubing that emties into the evaoprator tray) and put everything back together and restock the fridge about a week later it will start icing up again.

Faulty ice maker

Hello. Yes, that is the correct position for the icemaker feeler arm. The updated icemaker has a longer feeler arm that hangs down a little more (thereby shutting off sooner when the ice piles up not so high).

Your water leak onto your food is from water spilling out of the front left corner of the ice tray during fill. This has also been updated with a plastic lip that keeps the water from sloshing out when filling up.

The photo shows that your ice tray appears to be unlevel and drooping in the front left corner. This happens with flex tray icemakers over time. The icetray does not fully flex back to its level posiiton. I do not feel you need to replace the entire icemaker. Repalcing just the ice tray should fix your issue.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

Water leaking from freezer compartment and ice maker not working properly

  • the water(in the bottom of the freezer) is coming from the freezer when is defrosts. the drain line is in the back wall of the freezer and may be clogged up with ice. clean out the freezer and pour some hot water in the very back of the freezer, this will hopefully unclog the drain. if not, then you have to take the back wall out of the freezer to get directly to the drain line. there should just be a couple screws holding it; it is just an aluminum or plastic panel.
  • and
  • the icemaker problem
  • it could be that the water valve is slowly leaking water into up to the icemaker and freezing before dripping out of the tube. then when the icemaker turns on the water to the icemaker it is partially blocked by the ice and sprays water all over instead of gently falling into the icemaker.
  • if this is the case then changing the water valve on the back of the machine and defrosting the fill tube behind the icemaker should fix this problem.
