Question about Microwave Ovens

Open Question

I have a sanyo Microwave model EM-S625S and currently have a problem. After a few minutes of switching it on it beeps and then the clock disappears and the 1s light is lit. The lights then alternate between 1s and 2s. Once this happens I cannot use the microwave. If I switch the microwave off and then on, I can use the microwave. It is annoying to do this all the time.

I have the same problem with the same microwave and am unable to use it when the 1s comes up. There is no reference to symbols in the manufacturers book to help either.

Me too, I also have the Sanyo EM-S6252 - The same problem happened last week..... I have tried leaving it unplugged but it just goes back to 1S - No clock, no other functions work, and the thing is useless!!!! No solution in the book. :(

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (most often on the rear or side) and the owner's manual doesn't address it, then disassembly will be required.

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

On a counter top model, be sure it's unplugged, but otherwise ignore the instructions above this paragraph.

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb.

See these links before proceeding:
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had locally in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

If it still fails, you likely have a shorted membrane keypad.

SOURCE: how do i set clock on my sanyo em sl 100n microwave

First of all, thank you very much for choosing FIXYA today for your online technical support needs.

Here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://uk.sanyo.com/AssetBrowser/Technical%20Database/Instruction%20Manuals/Microwave%20Ovens/EM-SL100N.pdf

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and blue highlighted text just above.

This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents, although many computers already have this type of utility pre-installed.

You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary. Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

After unplugging the unit or following a power failure, the OPERATING LANGUAGE and TIME will need to be set again. See page 9 of the manual for details on on HOW TO SELECT THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE, and see page 10 of the manual for detailed instructions on HOW TO SET THE CLOCK feature on your microwave oven.

I truly hope that was helpful to you.

Good luck and take care.

Joe.

Sylvania p70d20al-d5 microwave keeps beeping

I have the same problem with my microwave, the clock disappears and it says "enter" and "amt", I figured out it's the "beverage" button that is sticking. When I want to use it I just press "beverage" and then "reset" and just press them over and over until it stops. Usually it's on the first try, sometimes I have to press them a few times. Just don't do what I'm about to type though, I decided to get my razor knife and cut the button out carefully, I only cut the contacts on each side of the button, now no buttons work, I should have left it the way it was, at least I could use it that way.

Numbers and light, but no power

It sounds like you have a bad control unit (the circuit board). We repair controllers nationwide for $39.995 in most cases, but if a part is needed which we cannot get, then it will need a new board. That can be ordered from http://www.vancebaldwin.com If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety and disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Microwave runs when door open

This is probably a a bad door switch or door switch mount. Chances are only the fan and light are running when you open it, but better safe than sorry. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure but not the only one. I have a text file called "doorsw.txt" which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems, and a file called "safety.txt" which is of vital importance. You can find these files by searching at Yahoo.com (not Google) for this: microwave display safety.txt If you still have a problem, please write back with more detail. Be safe!
