Question about Maytag Atlantis MDE7400AY Electric Dryer
I'm trying to change out my power cord from a 3 prong to a 4 prong. I've done some research, but there are a few problems that I have. First of all, the existing cord is not color coded and none of the wires going to the posts match these colors. On the left post, there is a brown wire and a blue wire. On the center post, there is a white wire and a white wire with a black stripe. And on the right post, there is a black wire and a yellow wire. Also on the center post is a metal strap. All of the instructions I've read say that this strap is normally copper, but mine looks like stainless steel. Is this the right strap that I'm looking for, and if so, do I connect the green wire to where it is connected to the frame and take off the strap?
Your new cord has 4 wires. Black, red, white , green.
The dryer has 3 lugs to connect to. Connect the white and green to the center lug, connect the red to left lug and the black to the right lug. You are all set to use dryer.
