The first thing to determine here is if the ac adapter is working. Measure the output with a voltmeter- it's usually around 3v. Next, plug it into the camera and measure the internal battery contacts to see if they're getting voltage. If all is good, then it could be a matter of slightly oxidized battery terminals (on the battery itself, or inside the camera). Clean them with a qtip and alcohol, or pencil eraser, and see if that fixes it. The next suspicious thing would be a bad battery (they do go bad, and when a cell internally shorts, the battery will not charge). Going back to the step where you measure the internal battery contacts for voltage, if you have no voltage reading on the contacts, this could mean a bad jack on the camera, in which case you will have to disassemble the camera to fix or replace the jack. Since the jack is directly wired to the battery terminals inside the camera, this is the most likely defect and suspicious component, although it could be a poor solder connection that has gone south (rare, but happens). If you don't have a voltmeter, you might try to take the camera in to Best Buy or Radio Shack, and see if they will help you measure things. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Laptop has power but won't boot up

There are three possible reasons why it's acting like that.

1. Defective AC Adapter or Power cord
2. Defective Motherboard
3. Defective Battery

First off, you need to isolate the part which causing the issue. Please follow the following steps:

1. Remove the battery and use the power cord alone in powering up your computer. If it goes well, then you need to replace the battery. If no go, then try using a different known good outlet.

2. Check the acer power adapter (the box) if there's a light lit. If it's green, then it's should be working fine. If it's amber or nothing at all, then there's a problem with it. You might need to replace that.

3. If the AC adapter looks good, then try to wiggle the cord so that you can check if the cord is properly connected to the computer. Usually, cords get loose and it causes problems. If it has this kind of problem, then you need to get a technician to check that for you because you might need to buy a new motherboard for that.

Please do the above simple steps, and let me know if anything happens. I hope this can solve the issue.

Toshiba Satellite won't start up when AC plugged in

Try another Cord/Charger to verify the Cord, AC jack. If you plug in the AC cord after starting on battery, does the battery charge? Open Control Panel, Power Options, set to High Performance, Advanced power settings, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, Adjust Advanced power setting to your preference.

My Asus Eee PC 1001PXD battery won't charge. The charges light is on but nothing happens and now the battery is completely dead and I cannot get my notebook on

Your problem is far more than the battery. Your problem is the power cord. Laptops for the most part will work off the power cord even if the battery is dead or even if the battery is not in the laptop. Your power cord charges your battery and if it is bad it will not charge it. You've been working off your battery even though you might have had the power cord plugged in, but if it's bad and not charging the battery, the battery drains and then you can't get the laptop to power on at all. Go purchase a ac adapter and power cord that is designed for your system. Don't buy one that some of the big box stores sell that has a an interchangeable plug at the end designed to fit just about any laptop. Those will eventually burn *********** board out.

Laptop Battery Won T Charge on a laptop dell inspiron 1525

Battery could be dead and won't hold another charge. Batteries only last for so long until you have to replace them. If you laptop is ok with the AC Adapter & Power Cord meaning it boots and allows you to work in windows, then the battery is definitely dead.

Acer extensa 4620 z will not power on have a new ac adapter and power cord . i can charge battery and charge battery light comes on but push power button and nothing

Try the following, one at a time.

- Remove battery then connect power cord, then power on
- Remove the memory modules then power on
- Remove the other optical drives, then power on
- Remove other components, then power on.

This process is to illiminate the faulty component. It is possible that one component is faulty and is causing shortage that's why your laptop won't power.

If this doesn't work then you need to remove the internal components like hdd.

Hope it helps.

Hello The mandatory requirements before you try anything else are the main battery must be installed, it must work correctly, and there must be nothing wrong with the AC adapter or it's connection to the laptop. -Your model is recent enough the main battery must be installed - it won't start up on the AC adapter alone. - The main battery must be capable of being charged up to at least a minimal capacity. - The main battery does not last forever. Typically it works as it should for a year or so then begins to deteriorate - by the second year it can't be charged to anywhere near it's rated capacity. It gets worse as time goes by. Older batteries often develop internal shorts that makes it impossible for them to produce the voltage they're supposed to produce (you can test for that with a volt meter), and they may get HOT when you attempt to charge them for a while, rather than a little warm, or they may never get warm at all. - If you haven't replaced it since the computer was new, this model is old enough the main battery should be replaced! There must be nothing wrong with the AC adapter or it's connection to the laptop - if there is, the main battery cannot be charged properly. A common thing people do when they unplug the AC adapter is to pull on the cord rather than the plug on the end of the cord as they are supposed to do. Doing that eventually damages the plug and/or the wiring near the plug, and over a longer period of time, doing that damages the jack in the laptop the plug plugs into. The jack in the laptop should move when you wiggle the plug in the jack. Most laptops have an led that lights up only when the AC adapter is plugged in, there's nothing wrong with the AC adapter or it's connection to the laptop, and the AC adapter is charging the battery. That led should come on at least briefly when you unplug the plug from the AC adapter, then plug it back into the laptop jack, even if the main battery is fully charged. The led should not blink on and off randomlyIwhen you wiggle the plug in the jack. If that led never comes on, there is something wrong with the AC adapter or it's connection to the laptop, or the main battery is shorted (check it's voltage). If that led never goes out even after a long time, the main battery is probably no good - replace the main battery. The plug on the AC adapter cord can be replaced, but if you damaged it by pulling on the cord you will probably continue to do that at least part of the time, so since a plug molded onto the cord stands up to abuse a lot longer than a replacement plug, it's often a better idea to replace the cord from the AC adapter to the laptop if it can be unplugged at the AC adapter (a laptop repair place may stock that), or if that can't be done or you can't find that part, replace the AC adapter. The jack on the laptop can usually be replaced but that requires taking apart the laptop and careful removal and replacement of the jack. A laptop repair place does that sort of thing frequently, and often have the more common jacks in stock, though they may have to order one. Hope this helps, if so do appreciate my effort by rating the solution Good Luck, Cmptrlink

You put the battery into the camera. Put the USB end from your computer cord into the end of the AC adapter hook it up to your camera. Ta-da! Everything should be working smoothly in the battery/charger department. :)

Battery back needs to be connected to the DVD player when charging. connect the batter pack to player. Run the DC/out from the battery pack to the DC/in in the player. plug the charger into the wall.

if that does not work, you have a bad battery
