Question about Sony Handycam DCR-HC28 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Video banding Occasionally when I use my Sony Handcam DCR-HC28, I have the picture drop out in the form of bands. You can see previously shot video on the cassette. It last just a few frames, probably less than a second. Should I just not reuse cassettes or is it a sign of a bigger problem? Any suggestions on how to prevent this would be wonderful. Thanks Thom

Well this is a case of the good ole Sound/Picture heads being dirty, the reason you are seeing old recordings and not good new one's is due to the heads not making good contact with the heads, please simply buy a new 8mm tape cleaner, place in camera and press play till 30 seconds have gone okay?

Can you clarify what do you mean with bands. Have you tried reseting the camera to default settings that can be done either in the menu or there should be a reset button.

On the Sony DCR-TRV320E video camera I get two wide horizontal bands on playback and the audio is intermitant. What is the cause?

Having used a cleaning tape several times to no effect. I then went to record, to see if the bands appeared in recording mode. They didn't. So I went back to playback mode and the bands had disappeared.
