A colour bar blue on the bottom and green on top of42" LCD

I am useing a HD box from Shaw Cablevision (made by Motorola) hooked up to a 42" Zenith LCD. Have good reception on both digital signal and HD Channels.
However I have a yellowish-green fuzzy bar 2-3" across the top of screen and a blue fuzzy bar 2-3" across the bottom of the screen. Have tried calling local service centre to no avail. Contacted Zenith USA as set was bought in washington state and given to me as a gift. They were of no help! Please send any hints or tips you can. Thanks

You need to replice the convergence ICs.

It is a rear projection, not lcd, therefore it should be a convergence problem. Afull convergence test should be performed from service menu. If you still have the problem after setting up convergence, you will need to check the fuses at the base of convergence IC and change convergence ICs.

My first answer was wrong, your model is a rear projection LCD TV, not a projection tv (the tube ones). Therefore it is not an IC problem.
As already posted, it is likely that you need to change or adjust the lamp. Here are replacement in Europe, post your location to get more options:

It is correct , you should not replace the lamp unless you are a technician or an advanced DIY. Lamp costs over US$400 and must be tested before being replaced. There may be many additional reasons why the LCD tv is displaying horizontal bars. May be a problem with some component on the main board, or a misplaced LCD display cable.

Turn off all appliances aroun your tv, if you have an option for using a traditional uhf areal use the tv with aerial only, and check if you still have the bar, alternatively try moving tv to other room. Problem of this kind may be generated by disturbance from an heavy appliance nearby (fridge, big amp, transmitter), or by a defective cable.

If you cannot get rid of the problem it may be neccessary locating a tv repair in your area.
If you want to DIY you will need to start from getting the service manual with diagrams and part list, it costs $25. Here is also a forum on problems with your model, if you ask them they may get service manual for free.

    Regards

I have picture but no sound. We just had our surround sound system go out and are trying to run our tv on it's own internal speaker system. How do you hook it to our direct tv hd box

Hi.

You need to use audio cables. Connect two red and white audio cables from the output on the HD box to the relative input at the back of TV (nr.4 in picture below). The best way to connect the HD box is by using component cables, that are the red-green and blue trio of cables, plus a white and red audio cables.

Here what you need:

Three plus two:
Component Video Cable
Audio Red / White Cable

or single set of five:
Cables Unlimited - Video / audio cable

Once you have the five cables, connect them to the output at the back of the Direct TV box, and then connect the other end of the cable to either group of connectors 6, or to one of the columns in connector 7. Do connection with box and TV power off. After re-applying power use the source-input selector on remote to select the source from Direct TV box.

We just purchased the 500 series Samsung LCD HDTV. We have dish satellite. How do we hook it up. We are unfamiliar with the different types via HDMI, DVI, Component Cables. Your help would be...

first things first. is your satellite box HD compatible? if so, there will be a HDMI output on the back. if not, there will either be your typical red yellow red jacks, or possibly blue green red component cables. if HDMI is available, it is the optimal choice. if not, you can still use this box but will not be able to utilize your tv's HD functions. if you are not running any additional home theater accessories, that is all you need to get your dish up and running. to clarify, if you can use HDMI, you sound and video all run through the one cable. If your satellite box is not HD, i highly recommend upgrading to one.

My zenith lcd tv has lost its blue tint. most

the light polarizer on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excesive dust and heat, and therefore need to be replaced. unfortunately, zenith may not sell individual parts of the optical engine, so you'll have to replace the whole optical engine.

No red when hooking up component cable for dlp hd tv. Only blue and green colors show on hd component input for charter hd cable box. Are there any internal adjustments that need to be made through either...

Check the red cable this is where the red comes from, you may have a bad cable, maybe use the blue or green one just to see if the red will come through, it can be the cable box or the tv or the cable itself.

Looking for hd channel

To get an hd picture you have to use a digital input and this cannot be done by simply turning it to a channel. You need to hook up your HD receiver (box) to your tv using either an HDMI or a Component which will be a cable that looks similar to an rca but there are three of them and the colors are bed blue and green. If there is a red, blue and green on the back of the cable box and the tv hook them together with a component cable and then find the input on your tv that correlates to the compnent connections and then even after all of this you need to be tuned into a channel that is offered in high definition and if you have cable like I do the high definition channel will be a seperate channel from the regular one. Comcast in my area puts the HD's from channels 400-500. For example my espn HD is channel 403 but just regular espn non HD is on channel 27 in my area.
