Question about Breezaire WKCE 2200 Wine Cooler

1 Answer

Unit runs gets only to 62 degrees. Top exhaust clean. 5 yrs old

I have had the unit for almost 5 years. Now runs all the time and only reaches 62 degrees. Top mount, top venting unit. Can't find anyone to even look at the thing. Know if a shot of coolant (freon?) will help, or should I just pony up and buy a new unit.

CWC-1600 cools constantly

More than likely, the thermostat on the unit is going bad. If the coils haven't been cleaned recently, then I suggest that you unplug the unit, clean it well and then cycle it back on. If it continues, then the thermostat that's located within the unit is going bad. Please refer to the owners manual for proper service and maintenance for your unit. https://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/140265-1.pdf

My dehumidifier runs like a champ, but doesn't put water in the tank, it's been empty for a week or better. The coils don't get cold. Should they? This unit is 5-6 yrs. old. Do I need a new...

Mike, there are 5 things that could be causing the problem you're having. So, before you ruch out to buy a new one, try troubleshooting this one first.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it before attempting any troubleshooting

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have an analog unit, set
the humidity extraction level knob on Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

If none of the above solved the problem, it ma be time to start shopping for a new dehumidifier. As repairs can often cost almost as much as a new unit.

I have to play with thermostat to get my heating system on

You did not make it clear if the thermostat is a programmable unit or not. I am wondering if the thermostat is not set on the correct heat anticipation setting. A heat anticipater is a small heater that helps the thermostat turn off before it over shoots the desired temperature setting. If the thermostat is set for a 5 degree setting, it will turn off at 63 degrees if set at 68. If the anticipater was set at 1 or 2 degrees, it will shut off the heater at 66 or 67. Newer thermostats will only allow the thermostat to cycle 6 times per hour so if you never reach the desired temp, you have to wait 10 minutes before it will allow a call for heat. Check the installation instructions to see if there is a setting where you can get the anticipator temperature closer to your set temp. Good luck.

Lg lhd65el dehumidifier icing up

This will need to be serviced. LG has a 5 year warranty on these models. They usually will tell you of a service center nearby which will service it free of charge since it is under warranty. If you do not live near a service center they may ship you a replacement and you send your old dehumidifier back to them. Make sure you have your reciept when you contact them so they can verify it is 2 years old.

Ge wall unit cools and then stops

Weather below 50 deg F can harm airconditioners if you run them. If the unit is turned off, then the weather can get as cold as it wants to and not damage the unit. Also 99.999% of the time repair costs on wall units surpass the cost of replacing the unit. This is even accounting for the fact that you will have to pay $25 to $50 to get rid of the old a/c. 5 yrs isn't that bad for a wall shaker anymore. Suggest looking for a new unit.
