My old Aiwa DVD Player XD-DV370 when I turn it on he stays with all the lights on the front panel lighted and it stays like that blocked. :-(

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

I have a sylvania dvd vcr combo and the progressive scan light is on and it wont play dvds. How can I fix this?

Try the (Goldstar and Zenith) trick - with the unit on, but no discs inserted, press and hold STOP button on the front (not the remote) for 10 seconds, then release. This should revert progressive back to normal interlace output for your TV and may also turn off the progressive LED indicator on your unit.

I mentioned 2 other brands in parentheses - because the (press and hold STOP for 10 seconds) trick works for progressive on those.

How do i change the region codes on my aiwa xdax1 dvd player?

Seems that there is no multi-region hack. Aside from this, the player works well and I've had no problems in the 2 years that I've owned it. It lacks some features that would be nice (eg mpeg playback) but the features that it does have work without problems.

Need another set of tv-to-tv cables. An a/v cable and a dc cable

I had to move my AV cable around quite a bit to get the second monitor to come on. I realized it was the cable and not the connection by holding steady the connections and moving just the wire. I checked Radio Shack and Best Buy - no luck...

Then I did the following (takes 30 minutes max):
1.) found the portion of the cable that was bad
2.) carefully sliced open the outer jacket (with a box cutter razor),
3.) carefully pulled the wires (white, red, yellow, and bare copper ground) out of the outer black jacket. Inspected and found no visible defects. Realized that likely the yellow wire (probably the video feed) was shorting against the bare ground...so did the following remaining steps to remove the ground away from other wires.
4.) cut and unwound the ground,
5.) put the white, red, and yelllow wires back inside the outer black jacket, but left the bare ground out
6.) wrapped the two ends of the bare ground (that I cut in step 4) around the outer black jacket (still containing the other wires)
7.) reconnected the two ends of the bare ground, by twisting them together (you'll use-up an inch or two of the ground to re-twist it, so you will have to leave a small bump in the cable from the excess black jacketed portion.
8.) use black electrical tape to wrap all the wires together from the portion we opened-up.

Works like a champ.

Plays no DVD's of any kind or format

The disc may not be spinning when inserted into the player.

when you insert a disc, something holds it from the top and bottom and starts to spin it. If the upper and/or lower grips can no longer grip the disc strongly, the disc will not rotate or rotate very slowly or not in sync with the laser reading it.

to test this, put some double sided tape on the outer circumference of the middle hole of the dvd, don't go too close to the area where the data area on the dvd begins. do the bottom first.

if this works then you have to find a clever way of placing something on the grips so they can hold the discs stronger.

For my dvd player, i took it apart, cut a rubber sheet into a ring shape and glued it to the lower grip. Haven't had any problems so far.

The following hack worked for my player. It works for most LG and Aiwa players too. To hack the player try this:
  • Power on player with no disc inserted and wait for "No Disc" message on screen
  • (using the remote) Press PAUSE
  • Press the numbers 314159 in order. (player should now show "COdE - -" the same as below)
  • Press the number of the region you desire ( 0 = any region, 1 = US&Canada etc.)
  • Press PAUSE
  • Power off the player for a few seconds..power back up and insert your DVD disc
