Question about ASUS Eee PC 1000HE Netbook

1 Answer

Computer does not start up

I have an Asus Eee PC 1001ha series, with Windows 7 starter. Whenever I turn it on it displays the grey asus screen with the phrase "press F2 to run Setup, Press TAB to display BIOS POST Message", however, when I try to press either F2 or TAB, the computer does not react, and the computer does not do anything anyway(like startup). Ctrl+Alt+Del, do not work, and neither does Esc. I was told to press F2 simultaneously on another problem of mine, but that did not help.
So the basic problem is that it does not start up, and no keys work, and neither does the mouse.

    I have none connected.

  • dr_logan Jun 06, 2010

It didn't help. It still does nothing.

I cannot hear the Asus start up sound.

Check for what with the Ram and hard disk?

  • dr_logan Jun 06, 2010

I haven't installed any new software or programs recently. But, usually when I shut down my laptop, I do so using the start menu. Yesterday, I held down the power button to turn it off. Could this be the problem?

Please reset the system... Disconnect the power adaptor. Remove your battery, press several times on the Power button of the Laptop without the battery and power.. and let me know.

I can't verify yet what exactly is the problem. Yeah that could be the problem, but not likely.. Boot you system Power cable connected without the battery, vise versa. I was telling to check the Ram and the Hard disk, but seems you were confused. Just remove the hard disk and reinstall it. Also remove the ram and boot up.. and let me know whether you hear any beeps or not.

SOURCE: I was told press F2 simultaneously on startup, nothing happened

You need not to press F2 or tab or escape unless you need to do so. If your system is ok, it'll automatically boot up, but if there's boot up problem with your system, then that's different. Thanks for using FixYa.

My suggestion is better to send it on the technical around on your area, to prevent any further damage. And also backup your files by removing your hard disk and slave it to other computer. Just use any converter of mobile hard disk to become a USB type drive. Hope it helps thanks.
