No sounds like either the vertical output IC needs resoldering or maybe defective. vertical IC will make the tubes shutdown for safety while audio and Crt heaters will remain on. Try resoldering the IC if that doesnt help replace the vertical output IC its an inexpensive part. If you need more assistance please let me know

My tv wont turn on when u push the power button no pic or volume comes on and the power button just blinks

Different possibilities:
1. Bad hv circuit (flyback)
2. Bad connections on flyback & the little fuse next to it
3. Bad fuse near tuner
4. Bad picture tube
This tv is known to have any of these problems.

I have audio, but no video, what's up? last night I was watching, and the picture went out, I truned off the TV, then restarted it...the picture came back. Today I tryed to turn it on and no picture, just...

s the audio coming from the TV's internal speakers, or from an external sound system? In the 169 series chassis, if the power supply caps or secondary rectifier are bad, or if the high voltage splitter has shorted inside, the set will not run and there will be no picture or sound from the TV. If the picture is completely black but the TV still has audio, press the menu button and see if the menu comes up on the screen. If the menu is there, check your cables on the back of the TV. If you are using a cable or satellite box, the box could be bad or the video wire could be bad or loose. If you do not get the on-screen menu, then I would guess that the solder joint next to the flyback transformer that sends filament (heater) voltage up to the picture tubes has cracked, or the low value resistor in the heater circuit has opened up. If that is the case, have the set serviced by a qualified tech familiar with the 169 series chassis.

My TV will not come off of standby?

You have a blowed Fuse 6.3amps ,Located in the middle of the power supply board where the FBT flyback Transfomer is. or you need to replace the STK ICs - STK392-110s use 120s,150s 180s. Mats Electronics has them 1-800-628-1118

The problem is probably a faulty IC (chip) or capacitor on tv main board.
Only simple things you can do at home are hard reset and whacking test.
To do hard reset leave the power cord unplugged for two hours; then power up again. This will drain power from tv and will restore all eproms inside the set to factory defaults.
to do whacking test. Just bang (not too hard) your fist on the top, back, sides, etc., to see if you can restore the picture, this can fix bad connectors etc.

If reset and the whacking doesn't help, then the problem is in some faulty or burnt component on main pcb inside tv. Often the jungle IC chip. The jungle IC handles all the video, color and control signals to the projection tubes. It is quite expensive to replace. In this case you will need a tech to test and diagnose the exact failure so that the right outboard parts are replaced at the same time.

The set should be nearly 10 years of age; so, it should have a few years of life left in it, as average life for a Toshiba is around 15 years . So, if you have to spend $300 to fix it and you get another 5 years of life or so out of it, it may be worth repairing, as the only other option is buying a new TV.

Tv wont come on

Most times when you hear this kind of sound on a TV it is because the flyback transformer is bad (from what I can remember anyway!). Its been a while since I repaired TV's, so hopefully someone can verify my info. The flyback transformer steps up the voltage very high which powers the color tubes. If that is bad, you will get the thunk sound. Also, if memory serves me well, there is a high power output chip that could be bad as well. Please, anyone who knows TV's, please verify for me. It has been years for me!

Pioneer SD-643HD5 does not power on

i had the same problem and it was the flyback transformer on the power supply board.it cost me $375 for the board.just make sure you ground yourself because the static electricity could fry it all.when unplugging the cables mark them and be careful.use a jewlers flat head scewdriver to unlock the cables.use a can of compressed air to clean off the dust.

56" RCA projection TV (FLYBACK related problem)

the base to emitter of the hot will read short on a diode checker/test on ohms it vairies but typically about 50 ohms.e to c, or b to c should have very high resistance. unsolder the collector of the hot. make sure all solder is gone. now test the ohm between your tuner ground & the pad of the hot collector it should read open.
