My KEMC308KWH01 Microwave got "DOOR" Error

My KEMC308KWH01 Microwave was suddenly having the "DOOR" error on UI. The power on UI is still on, but it would not work and the light was off. Seek help to fix this as soon as possible. I've tried to reset via the main curcuit breaker, but it's not working.
Thank in advance for any recommendation

There is a large fuse behind the control panel and a smaller one on the right top side of the microwave. You have to pull the unit partially out to access this. Here is a link that directs you to repair manual with detailed instructions how to do this.

Scroll down and find the pdf file. If it still doesn't work you may have to replace the door latch switches, one on the left and two on the right. You can find the fuses at Lowes or Home Depot. The switches have to be ordered from here:

Almost certainly the limit switch is open circuit. Need to pull out plug, remove cover :then using a meter check the normally open and closing of the various limit switches.Carefull with those limits ok, all have very exact functions.

Kitchen aid microwave door error

Try unplugging it to reset. Also, check your circuit breaker...as an additional check point. This will shut power to the outlet as well as the microwave completely.

Ned's to know witch relay to replace wich f8 problem

Hi there! Typically for such an error code, F8 or F80, there is a communication error between the UI (User Interface) and the control board (often the microwave control board). Yes you have a microwave control board in a double wall oven. This will require either the main control board or the UI board being replaced by a professional for safety reasons. I would suggest to contact a professional that partners with your manufacturer. Contact your manufacturer first to see if there are any known issues or a limited warranty for your model.

Hi,

Below is the complete instruction sheet.

You are having a communication error between the appliance. Here is the actual tech manual instructions for that code:

PROCEDURE: Before proceeding, press OFF, OFF, START to enter Diagnostic

mode and verify the error codes. Ensure AM software, UI software and EEPROM

CHECKSUM versions appear on the lower text line. If AM software and EEPROM

versions do not appear, UI and AM may not be communicating. Verify this for the

lower oven UI and for the microwave (upper oven) UI. The lower oven UI will show

the AM software version for the lower oven appliance manager, and the microwave

UI will show the AM software and EEPROM versions for the microwave appliance

manager.

If the lower oven UI is not displaying the AM software version, go to UI IS NOT

DISPLAYING AM SOFTWARE VERSION.

If the upper oven UI is not displaying the AM software and EEPROM versions,

go to UPPER OVEN UI IS NOT DISPLAYING THE AM SOFTWARE AND

EEPROM VERSIONS.

If lower oven UI and microwave UI are both displaying an error, go to LOWER

OVEN UI AND MICROWAVE UI ARE BOTH DISPLAYING AN ERROR.

UI IS NOT DISPLAYING AM SOFTWARE VERSION:

A. Unplug oven or disconnect power.

B. Open the back panels and make sure the P6 and P2 connectors are fully

inserted on the appliance manager and on the lower oven user interface board.

- If they are not plugged in, plug in connectors and go to step F.

- If they are plugged in, go to step C.

C. Visually inspect all wires between P6 on the appliance manager and P2 on the

lower user interface.

- Make sure wires are not cut or pinched.

- If the wires appear to be intact, perform a continuity check between

P6-1 of the appliance manager and P2-1 of the user interface board.

Complete for P6-2(AM) to P2-2(UI), P6-4(AM) to P2-4(UI) and P6-5(AM) to

P2-5(UI). All the measurements made should be less than 5 ?. If any of

these measurements exceeds 5 ?, go to step E.

D. Replace the appliance manager. Ensure all connectors are properly inserted.

E. Replace the wiring harness (signal). Ensure all connectors are properly inserted.

F. Replace all parts and panels before operating.

G. Plug in oven or reconnect power.

H. Observe for longer than 1 minute to determine if error has been repaired.

I. If error does not appear, initiate a bake cycle. Let the cycle run for at least

1 minute.

- If no error occurs, cancel the cycle, the problem has been repaired.

- If error occurs again, restart the troubleshooting procedure at step A.

At step D, replace the lower oven user interface board if appliance

manager has already been replaced.
- If both are replaced the problem has been repaired.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hello we have bosch hbc 86 and every time i want to turn on the microwave it suddenly stops, even when im trying to defrost,it starts and then in 3 seconds it turns off, please do you have a solution for...

My HBC 86 showed this behavior, after a fuse for the microwave operations was blown (remove the top cover and you will see it on a board close to the door). It's an 8A, medium speed. There might be different reasons, why the fuse is blown. In my case, the switches that detect whether the oven door is closed or open caused the problem. There are two connected with the microwave, one on the left (a bipolar switch) and another on the right. The switches will cause a short-circuit (and thus a blown fuse), if the left one detects an open door and the right one a closed door - it's an additional security feature. The problem can be caused by a blocked or slowly reacting switch. You might want to clean/replace the switches and/or put the right switch as far as possible away from the door so that it detects a close later (and open earlier). A good thing for testing: the problem occurs without actually starting the microwave.

Kitchenaid builtin microwave oven # Kemc307KSS

I'm posting this as a solution after I went through several different web sites to and trial & error to fix my "DOOR" error code problem.
The original question I submitted can be summarized: I need to replace the 15A interlock fuse. Can you point me to a manual that describes where this fuse is and how to replace it?

Here's the answer for the KitchenAid KEMC308K series.
1) The service manual is behind the control panel on the left hand side. For my built-in, I turned off the power and removed the oven from the cabinet, exposing the sheet metal shroud. Remove the top piece and there on the left hand side is the service manual.
2) The manual indicates the fuse is in the right rear of the microwave. This is correct, but it is actually accessible through the right side.

As long as I slogged though this, I thought some other people would like to know how to solve the "door" error problem. It could be caused by a faulty control panel, but before going there, the check the switches and fuse in the door interlock circuit. Check this link for a discussion: http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/switch.html

Repair steps:
Remove the rear sheet metal shroud and you see nothing but the back and side of the microwave. Remove the right sheet metal shroud and expose the right side of the microwave. This panel has a bunch of warnings, heed them. However, the are missing one: SHARP EDGES. Think about putting tape on the exposed sheet metal edges. Remove the panel and expose the "guts" of the microwave: Rectifier, wave guide, magnetron, capacitor, and such. The interlock fuse is next to the capacitor contacts. Safely discharge the capacitor (method described in numerous places via google search and the link http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/safety.html ).

After the capacitor is discharged, remove the fuse, verify it is blown using an ohm meter (ceramic fuse - you can't see inside). The fuse is actually (despite what the tech manual says) a 20A 250V fuse. Available at radio shack in a pack of 4 for $2.99. Install the new fuse.

As long as you have this much done, may as well ensure that the microswitches still work. Remove the contacts from the microswitch. There are 2 close to each other. From the 3rd contact to these, one should open when the other should be closed. Ensure that this is true and that when the switch is depressed, the state reverses (the contact that was open is now close & connects to the common). Do this for both door-closed sensing microswitches and replace the wiring to the microswitches. Replace all the microwave side panels and the sheet metal shroud. Turn on the breaker and hopefully, as it was on mine, the "DOOR" error message is gone and it starts up normally.

Oh, when the power comes on the unit runs a self test, lots of blinking lights followed by a power-failure error code when the power comes on. I think it was pf .d=30. Hit cancel and it goes away.

So, this is a pain to do b/c there are about 40 sheet metal screws to deal with and one has to be careful discharging the cap. Pulling the oven out of the cabinet was the hardest part. I build a table at the same height and just slid the entire unit right onto my "work table." If I had to do it again, I'd have the entire thing done in under 30 minutes.

Hope this helps someone else!
