2008 camper. fridge keeps switching over to gas. Turned it off & back on, it goes back to AC. The camper is plugged into a 50amp outlet & all else works fine.

Check your fuses and circuit breakers to see if any are tripped or blown. If you are handy with a test meter you can check for power at the refrigerator control panel. There will be a vented cover outside behind your fridge and there are two leads going to a heating element. You can check for power or continuity through the element.

Fridge will not switch from gas to electric when electric is present. Shut of gas and fridge still not switch, it stays on gas. Check light does not come on.

Check the fuses located in your electronic board located on the rear of the fridge. You must remove the board cover to see them. If you replace the fuse and the fuse blows again, then you more then likely have a bad heating element. ArctiCold Refrigeration We keep it cold fb8d9c00-4cdb-47b4-8ed5-b7b384af5c24.jpg

When running on Electric insure that the rear coils of the cooling unit are getting warm. If the refrigerator is level and the coils are warm and the refrigerator does not cool then you more then likely will require a replacement cooling unit. My Dometic RM2652 in my camper isn't getting cool enough when it's set on electricity. It feels cool, but not cold. The ice in my freezer turned to water, but it was still cold. The refrigerator section is...

Sounds like maybe your element for Heating when on hydro may be faulty. A voltage check at spades on board connected to element will confirm. If power to element but no heat felt at element should confirm it's faulty. Remember, if stack is already hot from propane, element will also feel hot, so it has to be out or fridge cooled down at back first.(off)

Our Dometic RM2193 cools on gas but does not work on electric

It could be as simple as a blown fuse at the fridge. Also check to make sure you have turned on the electric switch that allows the fridge to run on AC. Note, you can only operate the fridge on EITHER gas OR electric, but not both sources at the same time, thus, you have to turn off the gas switch before you can run on electric.

When this unit is running on electricity, it has to have the thermostat set for it to run.

Here's a link to the Dometic manual for your model.

Just follow the steps for running on electric and you should be OK.
Hope this helps.

Dometic RM7291L not effectively cooling on 240V but fine on gas

On the back of the unit, at the bottom, there should be a panel that is removable. Inside should be a fan, the condenser coil, and the compressor. The fan has to be constantly blowing air over the condenser coil, to dissipate the heat (which it is essentially being removed from the refrigerator by the compressor)

When the entire fridge stops cooling, one of three things have happened. The fan isn't removing the heat from the coil, or the compressor isn't compressing the freon, or the freon has somehow leaked out of the system. If it is the fan, you have an easy do it yourself repair. If it is the compressor or the freon, you will probably (but not necessarily) need a professional.

Inside the fridge, there is a coil that is cold instead of hot. A fan must continually blow over that one too, to circulate the air over the cold coils. The fan usually only works when the doors are closed, so be sure to have the door switch pressed to "shut" when checking it.

Check those and post back. And, I know... it really is Dometic.

Camper fridge dont cool

I also had the same Model Make. I removed my fridge and placed it upside down, occasionally shaking fridge within a 24 hr period. This seemed to re-mix the ammonia solution and the fridge is working.
This may work for you but look for yellow stains if you see any your fridge is leaking and would require repair.

Problem with the electric on fridge not working

Hello Paintinfool3,

I have worked on these in the DISTANT past...
They are a great CLASSIC design... Working on gas
means you are 90 to 95% all good

The electric comprises two basic elements
only confused because you have both AC & DC modes.

Just for simplicity sake the ELECTRIC section
(heater & thermostat) section in the BELOW begins
with SECTION 63...

You need a volt-meter with an OHM scale...
(the $9 kind... HARBORFRIEGHT gives away).

There is a yes/no trouble shooting guide.

Also CUSTOMER CONTACT numbers in the very back.
