Hi! You may access bios by pressing F1 button while system is booting up (turning on). Inside the bios screen you may see there a configuration for brightness settings (normally under Configuration Tab). You may also check the bottom part of the display to see how to navigate the page. Thanks for visiting fixYa.com!

Connect it to an external monitor, or get its back light fixed.

When i turn compurte on black screen only

This could be due to a couple of things. If your computer is actually starting up and you get no graphics (actually nothing at all on your monitor) then you could have a bad monitor or a bad video card. If the computer is working at all, the monitor should display something, if just an error message.
My suggestion-try an external monitor (be sure to press the Fn and special function key combo to send the signal to the external monitor).
If that doesn't work (either monitor), then the graphics card could have problems.
If the external monitor works, then you could have a loose connection to the screen or the screen could be bad or perhaps the inverter that runs the screen could be bad. In this case, you'll have to get it fixed.

When i turn on my gateway nv52 the screen is black and white with horizontal lines. i can plug my laptop into an external monitor and it is fine so it has to be something with my video cable or monitor. ...

First things first simpers, your netbook might have a "hotkey" combination that toggles between external monitor and your screen .On my netbook iits Fn/F5 but yours might be different. Goto your manufactures site to find out the exact "hotkey" function.

I have tried to fix my mini notebook but my screen is just blank,i cant even see the start menu..what can i do?

Hi, if you cannot see a display on your monitor, there are a few things you can do. The easiest and first thing you should do, is plug an external monitor into the VGA port on your netbook. That way, you will know if your computer is still working. Also, make sure the power lights are on when you turn the computer on. Next, you can try this. Find the function button that corresponds with one of the F# keys i.e. F4 or F8 that controls the LCD display. It will either say CRT/LCD or will have a picture of two monitors on it, something like that. Then, press the Function key (Fn) and that corresponding key at the same time and see if the display comes back. Press it once and wait a minute, if nothing happens press it again and do the same thing. Do it a few times. You may also have to do that when you plug in your external monitor as well to get a display on it. What that does is tell the computer to display the image on an external monitor.

Screen is black..will not display anything. Any

You provided very little information, so I'll try to answer:
I assume you turned on the comptuer and it seems to be working-you didn't say.
I assume it used to display something-you didn't say.
Hook it up to an external monitor. Can you see something? If so, one of two things are wrong: Your LCD screen has gone bad OR you need to hit the Fn/Special function key combo that moves the display from your LCD to an external monitor.
If none of these solves the problem, then your video card has gone south on you.

Dropped laptop, color on screen not natural

The problem could be that you jolted a heat sync or fan loose that cools the video adapter. If you power off the machine and let it sit for several minutes and then reboot and the same thing happens, its a heat issue. Laptops have the graphics card in a chip form soldered to the motherboard, thats not the issue. Undoubtedly you have jostled something loose. If in fact it is a heat issue, you can have someone take the laptop apart and reseat the heat sync or maybe check on the fan that cools the video adapter.

Secondary monitor from a Laptop

If your laptop doesn't automatically detect the external monitor, there will be a function key you need to press to activate the external monitor connector. It's often on the top row of keys, but different manufacturers put their function keys wherever they like. The key will normally have a marking that looks like a little monitor screen. Connect your external monitor, hold down the F or Fn key and press the monitor key when you find it. Usually the first press will turn on the external monitor and turn off the laptop screen, then the second press turns the laptop screen back on. Some brands or models may not turn off the laptop display, though.

Acer Aspire 3100 Laptop Monitor will not turn on

Try Screen switch function to switch from Internal screen to External monitor to Both.
Normally FN + F4 (on Compaq or FN + F7 on Lenovo check the Function symbols on your Keyboard: allow few seconds after command to refresh configuration.
try Safe mode also. to check if display shows in VGA format.

Nothing happens when I press the power button except the light

Regardless if you don'r feel comfortable taking the comouter apart it needs to be taken apart and looked at. Depending on what got spilled inside the sooner the better. If it was a soda of some kind it could be bad.I would take out the battery and not try it again.
