I can help you with your Pioneer DV-400V DVD Player.

To switch your Pioneer DV-400V DVD player back to an interlaced video mode follow these steps:

  1. Switch everything off.
  2. Reconnect using the supplied video cable (standard RCA Red White & Yellow).
  3. Switch the player to standby.
  4. Press and hold the Standy/ON button while pressing the |<< button.
This resets your player to default video output, allowing you to reconfigure your HDMI settings to 1080i, and then reconnect your HDMI cable.

If you leave the player connected via HDMI while performing the reset procedure, then the HDMI resolution will be set to 480p.

I hope that helps.

Why is it that my Clearco HD9000 projector defaults to 1080i when connected to my SKY HD Satellite box, which is great but when connected to my Pansonic Blueray it defaults to 1080p resulting in lines down...

> 1080I

This is "interlaced" output -- the 1st horizontal line on the screen is painted,
then the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, etc lines are painted, to the bottom of the screen,
then the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, etc. lines are painted.

Your satellite box probably outputs both 720p and 1080i.

> 1080p

This paints the screen in order: 1st line, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc.
which some video-philes indicate produces a "better" picture,
i.e., smoother display of moving objects on the screen.

Your BluRay player probably outputs 1080p, because BluRay has been designed for High Definition displays.

So, check the manufacturer's web-site for the CLEARCO, to see if it supports 1080p mode.

What is diferent betwin 1920*1080p and 1920*1080I

Television pictures are a series of still pictures that are presented quickly to give the illusion of continuous movement.
1080p and 1080i indicate how these pictures are formed.
1080p is progressive scan. It is a format that "paints" the picture left to right, top to bottom. On older tube type screens, this would cause the top of the picture to be dimmer than the bottom, as the phosphers would fade before the next picture was painted.
1080i is interlaced scan. This format paints every other line from top to bottom, and then paints the lines it missed before moving to the next picture. This evens out the brightness.
If your TV is capable of 1080p, it is considered to be the best picture (but you probably won't see the difference).

1080i only works with component cables and wont go to 1080p but your hdmi will set it back to 1080i and then switch back to the component cables.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1080I AND 1080P AND WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

1080i vs 1080p - Similarities and Differences Between 1080i and 1080p
How 1080i and 1080p Are Both The Same and Different
1080i and 1080p are both High Definition display formats for HDTVs. 1080i and 1080p signals actually contain the same information. Both 1080i and 1080p represent a 1920x1080 pixel resolution (1,920 pixels across the screen by 1,080 pixels down the screen). The difference between 1080i and 1080p is in the way the signal is sent from a source component or displayed on an HDTV screen. In 1080i each frame of video is sent or displayed in alternative fields. The fields in 1080i are composed of 540 rows of pixels or lines of pixels running from the top to the bottom of the screen, with the odd fields displayed first and the even fields displayed second. Together, both fields create a full frame, made up of all 1,080 pixel rows or lines, every 30th of a second.
In 1080p, each frame of video is sent or displayed progressively. This means that both the odd and even fields (all 1,080 pixel rows or pixel lines) that make up the full frame are displayed together. This results in a smoother looking image, with less motion artifacts and jagged edges.
Differences Within 1080p 1080p can also be displayed (Depending on the video processing used) as a 1080p/60 (Most common), 1080p/30, or in 1080p/24 formats. 1080p/60 is essentially the same frame repeated twice every 30th of a second. (Enhanced video frame rate.) 1080p/30 is the same frame displayed once every 30th of a second. (Standard live or recorded video frame rate.) 1080p/24 is the same frame displayed every 24th of a second (Standard motion picture film frame rate.)

While playing xbox 360 in 1080p mod, the screen frequently blanks

Most TV's have problems doing 1080p over component. Dial the Xbox back to 1080i. Make sure the big switch on the Xbox AV cable is set to 'HDTV' not 'TV'(common problem) If the problem persists, try plugging into different hookups, use HDMI (if your console supports it) or buy one of the HDMI adaptors from PDP or MadCatz if your console doesnt. HDMI will reduce the clutter and will make 1080p a reality.

PS3

Avr 745 HDMI only output 1080i not 1080p. Your PS3 is capable of 1080p. You have to adjust your PS3 to 1080i then your screen will work. I hope Harman will come up with the upgrade for HDMI that can output 1080p otherwise you have to suffer or stuck with 1080i. Hope this will solve your problems.
