If it runs but no heat that is probably your heating element.
I recently worked on one of theses and got my grandson to snap a few photos of the repair.

The dryer will not heat. I believe the heating element is broken. Can this be fixed? How much will it cost to be fixed?

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

How do I replace the dryer element on my hotpoint auarius wd640 front load all-in-one

Before you replace dryer element, how do you now it is bad and what tells you it is the element and not 3 or 4 other items that could stop the element from heating? If oyu tested the element directly (and this of course is nearly the only way to know if it is bad) then you obviously has access to it and should see what is involved in removing it. So, I believe you do not actually know if the element is bad. You need to search and test all the controlling items that allow the element to heat before condemning it. I believe you need a skilled service person. Goodluck, macgivor

My Kenmore Elite (Whirlpool) HE3 elctric dryer is no

A dryer not heating usually means that either the heating element is burned/broken (open circuit); a thermal fuse in line with the heating element is blown or; a thermostat is faulty.

Dryer needs to be partially disassembled to diagnose with a multimeter.

The heating element won't get hot? Each wire to the element is getting 110v, but when checked together i am not getting 220v to the element?

Hi: 220 volts to a dryer are two 110 volts combined. Two separate wires. Did you check the heating element? See if it's broken. If so replace it. FIRST, Another thing to check is your circuit breaker. If it has only one side blown you will show 110 volts but that's all the dryer will get and dry slowly. The washer will still work as it's only 110v. I hopes this helps, Jeff

Dryer wire looks burned and broken at connector

Is it the large heating element wire or the thermostat wire? If it is sthe thermostat wire just go to hardware store and get repalcement spade for end., if its the larger element wire whole element should be replaced I have seen some people correct it by just rebending wire around the connector for a temp fix but not recommend should be replaced

Dryer tumbles won't heat

The problem could be related to one of the following; Not enough power from the house, a bad or broken heating element, a bad thermal fuse, or a brake in the wiring.

Solution
Check the house voltage for 220-240
Do a continuity test on the heating element.
Do OHM reading on thermal fuse.
Check wiring to heating element.

Kenmore Electric Dryer

If this is a Kenmore, have you checked the thermal cut-out or high-limit thermstat? Does the drum turn when you start the dryer?

If the drum turns, but does not heat, you will need to check the thermal cut-out (located on the heating element housing). The TCO should read a SHORT (0 ohms) or very low resistance. If it is OPEN, replace it along with the high-limit thermostat. In most cases the two components are sold as a set and are recommended to replaced as a set by the manufacturer.

Reason: The TCO is designed to protect the heating element and thermostat in the event of an overtemp condition. If the TCO is bad, there's a likely chance that the thermostat could be damaged.

If the TCO reads good, you may have a thermostat that is failing. The high limit thermostat operates normally in the CLOSED (shorted) position and will OPEN at or around 157 degrees F. It is located on the heating element housing adjacent to the TCO. If the thermostat has failed the dryer will tumble, but will not heat. Follow the same recommendation as for replacement of the TCO. Replace both components as a set.

Now...if the dryer drum does not spin, the likely cause is the thermal FUSE. It will be mounted on the blower housing near the blower fan. It is usually white (plastic) in color on Kenmore models. It should read a SHORT. If it fails the dryer will not spin or heat.

Post back with your comments or questions. I hope I'm leading you in the right direction.
