The green power LED probably is merely indicating that power is getting to your TV but the internal power supply is failing as evidenced by the loud "pop".

I have a Sony WEGA KDF-E60A20 TV. When I turn on the TV, it will stay on between 30 sec to a 1min. Then the screen will turn black and there is no sound. After about a minute, the TV is back on with...

Hello.
It looks like you have to replace lamp in your TV. Read owner's manual for info of how to do it. It is not very complicated. Lamp have to be replaced every 2.5 years of average use.
If you will still have same problem after lamp replacement you will have to replace lamp ballast as well, because your old lamp was long overdue and could inflict damage on it. It is not very probable and there is no way to know it for sure without replacing lamp first.
Regards.
Russ.

After 10 sec. After start up the tv starts to make a large growling sound for about 5 secs. Then repeats every 15 sec. Sounds like if might be a fan. How many fans in this t.v. . Took the back cover off...

there's 3 fans. 1 by the video board. 1 in the middle of the set infront of the heatsink and 1 behind the lamp. make sure all 3 fans are running and put your ears by them to check. if all of them are running the sound might be coming from your colorwheel. If it sounds like a loud whinning/humming or buzzing noise then more then likely its your colorwheel. Let me know what you find and please rate me. Thanks

Westinghouse LCD TV turns off after 3 sec, sound stays on, if I tuen TV off, will trun on for 3 sec and than piscture lost again can I repair this myself? robert

Hello Robert,
It sounds like your inverter board might have gone out. What you need to do is purchase the inverter board (your unit might have two master, and slave) and swap the board out. Some good places to find the board is www.shopjimmy.com, or www.invertercentral.com, to find the correct part # you can open the unit and the board is immediately visible, it is a long green board on the left side of the TV.

The loud noise is the color wheel winding down when you turn the TV off. You need to replace the color wheel.

Loud buzzing sound

Hello Jack,

That buzzing might be two things. It could be the color wheel or the ballast for the bulb. To check this you will have to move the projection section of the TV out of the case and listen for the sound in the area of the color wheel and the ballast. Try removing the color wheel power to see if the buzzing stops if it does then it's the color wheel is not and the ballast is buzzing then It's the ballast, and it will need replacing or if you know electronics you could try fixing the old ballast (I would suggest getting a new ballast).

Better still if you are uncomfortable working on the set you could get a qualified TV repair person to repair your TV .

I hope this helps,
Thank you,

My Sony tv CRT

If it's between 5-10 secs, that's normal. You will turn the tv on and hear a loud (buzz/hum) that is the picture tube firing up, once it's fired up, it has a few more seconds until your picture comes up fully. That is about 5-10 secs from pushing the power button.

If it's taking longer than that, your picture tube may be going out.

I had a 36XBR250 and it took about 10 secs to fire up and show a picture, and it was 5 1/2 years old.
