NOT DEFROSTING I ohmed out the heater and it was good. So I changed the board out from all the reading I had done it pointed me to that. The evap fan works fine But I don't know if its working intermittently. Its my fathers. The vent has no product blocking it. It wouldn't be the defrost termination switch, because its going into refrigeration. The model is G.E.#GSH25JSTCSS HELP !!!

It can be a problem with deforst heator / evap sensor change the evaperator sensor. evap sensor can cause missed defrosts or no defrosts. It should fix the problem, You can also check this web site gelow its the complet repair guide: http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/GE-refrigerator-repair.html

I have a magic chef mcbr1020w. freezer works but fridge section not cooling.

Hello,

Do you see frost built up on back wall of freezer? if so it is not defrosting and this is what needs to be checked, remove back wall of freezer and check these;
Defrost heater-- it usually is at bottom of the evap. coil, to check it remove wires to it ,use a meter set to the lowest ohms setting and check for somewhere between 10-50 ohms if that is what yours is its good if meter reads OL replace defrost heater

Defrost thermostat-- it clips to the top of the evap. coil and is metallic,round , about the diameter of a quarter with a plastic side with 2 wires coming from it(do not confuse it w.thermister),remove wires and check for ZERO ohms WHEN TESTING IT MUST BE COLD so check it when frost is built up,IF meter reading is OL (WHEN COLD) its the problem

Defrost timer or defrost control if has digital display to show tempature
check timer(it could be anywhere except in freezer) by turning till you hear a click,the defrost heater should come on within 5 minutes if the heater does come on the timer is the problem and needs to be replaced,if the heater does not come on the above mentions parts (heater/t-stat) will be the problem.
defrost control is hard for unskilled lay persons to check SO IF heater and defrost t-stat are good replace control I hope this will help you figure out what is wrong with your refrigerator, Gene

Self defroster is not defrosting. Changed timer with no luck.

Remove the freezer back panel and replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.

AMANA SIDE BY SIDE, INOP, FREEZER COILS ICE, FAN INOP IN FREEZER. REPLACED THERMOSTAT, DEFROST TIMER AND FAN, STILL INOP. HEATER WORKS AND HAS 32 OHMS.

Check the BLUE wire from the temp control to the ORANGE wire of the defrost timer for continuity. That is the complete fan circuit. You should read the resistance of the Evap fan motor. If you do not read resistance suspect the pins of the evap fan motor connector or... the Unbilical harness from near the evap to the icemaker and the evap fan. The connector pins of the Evap fan motor connector (Freezer connector) are notorious for failing.
