The TV was made by LG. You should be able to google an LG distributor or try ebay. The 953 is readily available but the 917 may be hard to find. Won't be cheap for new ones, around $350-$400 for both unless you can find used.

Very common problem on these sets caused by bad surface mount caps. Check on ebay for a repair kit it's the only place I know where one exists.

you need to have a licenced repair tech come look at it sounds like the inverter is going out its kinda likea ballast for florecent lights

Hi!
The sound you heard is most likely produced by a capacitor that blowed up, most likely in the power supply part of the TV.
There is no way that the gas escaped since it is contained in very small cells and of course there is nothing like a procedure to "refill it"
The repair can be done only by a professional, and it coul not cost too much, comparing to the price of the TV itself.
