I bought the same horrible, cheap, dishonest unit. They disingenuously say to rinse and boil once. I've boiled the water at least twelve or thirteen times. They also brag it doesn't need immersion (not because such units don't require immersion since that will damage the unit and they don't need immersion) but because of their superior spirituality. Let them answer for dishonesty in 120 years.

I donated a new Platinum B70 Brewer for use by our church staff. The tap water tastes terrible and ruins the coffee flavor!

and bench top or under bench water filter in the water supply line to the unit will work
best filters to consider are one ceramic ( removes particles to a measurement of less than 1/2 micron and one carbon filter that removes all taste problems

After two months the water that's boiled it still makes tea and coffee taste funny ?

What are you using for water? If you are just using tap water try buying a bottle of distilled water at the grocery store. Tap water - especially if it has Chlorine in it - makes terrible tasting coffee. Plus I'd suggest it's not good for you anyway.

You can also try the manufacturer's cleaning recommendation which typically involved running a water/vinegar mixture through the unit and then a couple of empty pots of plain water.

Last thing to check is to replace the water filter in the coffee maker if the model you have has one. Some higher end models do.

Good luck.

Nasty tasting ice cubes

Change the supply line to the plastic tube line or copper. Do not use a braided plastic or metal braided line these will make the water taste bad. Changed mine to the plastic line and cured mine, no filters needed.

Bad tasting water

Do not use a steel or plastic braided supply line. They make the ice taste bad.

Strong metal taste, how do I get rid of it. Coffee tastes terrible with very strong metal taste. I have boiled kettle about 8 times, but am unable to get rid of bad taste.

Professional chefs face this problem many times over with their stainless steel wares. Fill the coffee pot with water. Add a tbs of bleach. Let set for 2 hours. See if that helps. If it doesn't, please let me know.

Terrible taste that came from water?...

Do you have a water softener? It's possible the softener was in soak when you used the water dispenser. That would explain the "salty" (hi sodium) water taste and thena retrun to normal later.

Also, if you get your water from a muncipal well, they may have been experiencing a problem at the time with higher than normal sodium content.

Coffee tastes like metal

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COFFEE. This has to do with water filter system and most importantly descaling of machine, as over time the metals in side machine and tubing get a mold type build up. Its a chemical reaction from the water and tubing and the coffee and metals. To 100% solve this, descale the machine with water and vinegar mixed. Do this a couple of times and use bottled water to fill water tank if you do not have a good water filter tap system. I have been the espresso business for over 16 years with 4 locations, and it has nothing to do with the coffee. If it was the coffee or poor coffee it would tasted burned or bitter, but NOT tasting like metal.

Please rate my solution as you see helpful, Thanks Mike Espresso Expert
