which of the printer cable connection did you use to connect to the computer(s)?
The problem should be either from the printer cable or the printer channel. There are two channels by which you can connect your printer to your computer, 1.) printer cord, 2.) Usb cord.
To solve this problem, change your printer connection. By this I mean if you are using the USB of your printer, change to the other printer connection using printer cord, or if you are using the printer cord, change to usb. If you don't know what a printer cord looks like, visit the below link:
Also, you can try to change your printer cord as that might be the cause of the problem.
If the above does not solve the problem, then it means the printer is faulty, and needs to be repaired.

Hmmm click start right click computer .. Click hardware then device manager.. Or just device manager .. Right click and click scan for hardware changes.. Also make sure the usb cable is connected in the correct port of the printer.. The 3 in 1 brothers u need to lift the scanner up to get to the usb port..

Unistall delete old drivers from system before installing the full driver and software package (which includes MFC suite), brother have a unistall driver program on web site
MFC suite will enable scanning etc, drivers don't do that
