If you have a fat ps2 clean the laser. if that dont work then adjust the cd tray. if the cd is to close or to far from the laser it cant/wont read the cd's

if you have a slim then your laser prolly went bad. just replace the laser in it

Try a dvd lens cleaner because it sounds like the lens may be dirty. Make sure to use a DVD lens cleaner not a CD lens cleaner. If that doesnt work you will probably have to get the lens replaced which since its sony and they've been around for years it should be rather cheap. Hope that helps you out!

Format disc for playstation 2 I bought some UK playstation disc and I get that message what do I do

It means that the PS2 can't read the disc. Playstation 2s in the US are NTSC, while those in the UK are PAL. PAL discs can not be played on an NTSC PS2, and NTSC discs can not be played on a PAL console. This is because the consoles are region-locked and you can only play games from the region the PS2 itself was sold in.

On my ps2 after reading its disc, message will appear "disc read error"

Hello, you are most probably using a PS2 Slim, they have a very sensitive Lens Radiance. If the CD is a little scratched, a CD lens cleaner could help. Or if it is not a PS2 Slim, it must just require a CD lens Cleaner :)

Playstation 2 won't play DVDs

if it's a fat PS2 and
model SCPH 30001, SCPH 35001
(not including the models with an 'R' after the model #.

these models need the following to play DVDs:
- PS2 DVD remote with IR unit
- PS2 DVD disc player (sold with DVD remote w/ IR unit)
- PS2 memory card

you copied the DVD disc to the memory card. you used the memory card to play DVDs.

later models didn't need the memory card to play DVDs.

hope this helps :D

Playstation 2, keep getting disc read errors

try using a CD lens cleaner it could be that the laser is a but dirty.
Sometimes it could be that the games have fingerprints on etc.. I normally correct this problem by giving the games a wipe over with a cotton cloth with a a little white spirit then drying it gently with another soft cotton cloth.

I hopet his helps

Wont read discs

Downloadable games are not playable on PS2. If you're trying to play pirated games that you've downloaded from the Internet you're going to need to have your PS2 hardware modded to play DVD-Rs, which is expensive, dangerous, and illegal.

Read disc error

You said the model is 77001?? is that the slim type ps2?? if it is try this troubleshooting step

if the console is lying down flat where the disc lid is at the right side, try applying pressure on the lower right corner of the lid, sometimes the lid's safety button gets worn out and it will give you disc read error if this solves the problem then the button really is busted, if you have technical background you try and change the button

PS2 consule says read disc error for every game inserted

I helped a friend fix his PS2 with these symptoms using this webpage:

This is not to say yours has the same problems, but it's probably worth a try.

Good luck.
