SSID - Service Set Identifyer

The SSID is a secret key which is set by the wireless network administrator. You must know the SSID to connect to a 802.11 wireless network. However, the SSID can be discovered by network sniffing/scanning. By default, the SSID is part of the packet header for every packet sent over the WLAN.

go in your dlinks settings it by default always set to the routers name, you computer should detect the router in an area of networks, if the update is looking for an SSID # look on the sticker on the router it should say it there

I can't get connected to Netflix. All that pops up is error code 51031

This is a Wii we're talking about, right? The code is a Nintendo error code. Look at this link for more info. You may not be configured correctly for your wireless network. A common problem is most routers today use WPA2 encyption and most Wii consoles default to WEP. Many routers don't support WEP anymore.

If that is not available select RESCAN.

I have inserted my Netflix Watch Instantly DVD into the WII and I have wireless internet service at home, the console asked me to enter the SSID number so I figured this was my wireless network password...

Hello,

The SSID(network name) is actually the name you give the router. When you are on a wireless device and look at available wireless routers in range, the name you see is the SSID. You can see the SSID in multiple ways,

Login to your router admin page by going to the router ip address(usually 192.168.1.1) and log in. After you log in, go to the wireless settings and confirm your SSID.

If you have a wireless device like a laptop, you can view all available wireless routers in range and you should see yours show up. Check what the name of it is(SSID) and use that and input it into your Wii.

What does a 51030 error code mean on netfilx

Error Code: 51030 The only wireless network within range of your Wii console is not configured or is not compatible with the Wii.

  • If you are getting this error after completing a system update, this is usually because the console resets to using the first connection slot after an update. There are two things you can do:

    • If you know which connection file you were using before, you can select that connection file, then select "Use this connection" to change that to the default. You will need to do this each time they download an update.

    • If you don't know which connection file you are using, or if you would prefer not to update the active connection file each time, try to clear, and then re-create your connection setting in slot one before doing the remaining troubleshooting.

  • Check to see if the router you are using is a known to be incompatible. Click here to view our list. If your router is known to be incompatible, we recommend using a different router if possible.

  • Make sure that the SSID (network name) matches exactly to what you have entered in the Wii console's settings. To verify:
    1. Login to your router's settings (click here and select your router, if available, for information).
    2. Look for the section for SSID (typically in the "wireless settings" area).
    3. After you find the SSID (network name), verify in the manual settings of the Wii console that the SSID appears exactly as listed in the consumer's router. This includes making sure capitalization, spaces, or special characters match exactly.

I m trying to connect to the netflix, getting Error code:51031, unable to find access point. Please confirm the SSID and try again

Hi,

If you need you SSID you need to access your Wireless Settings Page. SSID is the Name of your Network or Network Name. Listed below are the steps on how to access your router. You also need to refer to the manual of your router for the username and password.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remember the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

Dont forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

Netflix on wii unable to find access point. confirm the SSID

you simply just have to let your wii know what you call your router. could be "bobsrouter" (for example) or whatever you wish to name your router. (SSID = service set identification) you can view/change this by viewing your routers settings.
