Elite Miracle One abruptly stops with no slow down

I have an Elite Miracle One that has been working for years. After a recent rain storm it no longer slows down before the positive stop. Do you think this is a controller board issue? I also noticed that the red and brown brake wires that are connected to the swing arm lead to a shorted connection inside the motor. Is this normal? Or could there be a short inside the swing arm? I wish I had a schematic so I could better understood how the brake functionality works.

I already have the manual. The solution steps offered are things I have already tried. I am looking for a solution from someone who knows this particular product better.

As stated before I have the manual already. I want to know if it is a normal state for the brake leads on swing arm to be shorted. This could be a normal state, but I need to know before I order a replacement circuit board.

I'm looking for someone with more specific knowledge about the schematic of the product. The first item I need to know is whether there should be continuity between the brake terminals on the motor. They appear to be shorted together. Is this normal? Second, if it is a normal state what tests can I conduct on the control board to determine whether it is faulty. I am capable of testing voltage, amperage, resistance, etc. Thanks.

Take a look here for an exploded parts diagram
http://www.operatordepot.com/miracleparts.html
and here to download the manual

http://www.operatordepot.com/pdf/miracle1manual.pdf

The shorted out section sounds like it might be the problem. But comparing this with the installation manual and diagrams for wiring should help you

Thanks for using FIXYA

This would be either a control board or power supply/power suppply board. The supply would be the first thing I would test with a voltmeter. There should be a label on the unit that says the DC Voltage Output on it to match the voltmeter's reading.

Hello. As you probably know this is the cadillac of gate openers. That said, a shorted connection is never a good sign and always the first place to look deeper. Here is the manual http://www.amazinggates.com/Do_It_Yourself/web/Manuals/Elite-SL_3000-manual.pdf

Above is your manual, this has much information. From what you describe, I would think "Sensor" or "Drive" for the sensor. IF there was a Short, I don't really think, it would actually go? What you need to do, is use the manual and perform the troubleshooting steps, and check all sensors switches, etc. If the windings are shorted, then accordingly the "Drive" too, well, that would most likely be destroyed.. if it is so, you will need to check that too.and replace it.

I've had my emachines for about four years and after a rain storm my tower is not working. When ever I turn it on theirs and error page that shows up. Its been doing that for about two years now.

Hello Aretta,

The storm you referred, you didn't mention if it was torrential rain, or a lightning storm, either way, there could have been a build-up of static electricity on the telephone line and if your P.C. was connected to the internet and to the mains at that time, it maybe the build-up of static earthed itself through your P.C.. If that is the case, then you are lucky it did not kill your machine. My advice is to get an engineer to look at it BUT! don't tell him about the storm unless he asks.

Regards,
Ron.

Tachometer works but speedometer does not. Just recently happened following a drenching in a rain storm

Take off your front wheel and make sure the speedo cable is positioned well. Try turning the speedo connector. If too easy, you may have broken the cable. Check Cleveland.craigslist.org, a guy in Cleveland deals exclusively in Honda V65s used parts if your cable is trashed. He posts once a week or so.

Hello, same problem and it should be u joints in the front. My truck sat for a year and all the ujoints are caked with rust and as they near failure they will begin to click much like what you are saying. I noticed it most when going from forward to reverse and vice versa.

I just recently purchased a 2007 Ford Focus SES that had only 75000 km. I have never driven a car with traction control on it. We had a snow storm, and when I accelerated to about 45 km per hour, I had a...

All vehicles will slide in the snow. Traction control or not. What traction control does, in simple terms...Is when your wheel start to slip, which is detected by some sensors, it lowers the vehicles throttle position, slows the RPM's down, even if your foot is still on the gas, for a matter of seconds, until the wheels stop slipping. So when you feel or hear your vehicles engine slowing down on its own, its best to just let off the gas and let it go for a couple seconds. A way to test the traction control...From a stop, if you are in the snow, and you push the gas down a good bit, make it spin, and the vehicle should seem to power down on its own, while the light comes on, if it does not do this, then traction control would not be working. Hope this helped.

Drivers electric window wont roll up it goes down real slow but wont go up past halfway. Its real slow going down and before this it would go slow and roll outside of track at top

Window regulator and motor assembly will need replaced. Common problem. You've seen other people with it at the drive thru ATM and pick up windows - getting out of there car to get items!! LOL! Seriously have an experienced mech. look into it. Having this thing not work will be a real pain especially if it dies during a rain storm. Good luck

Air conditioner won't reset.

If you're trying to reset it right after it trips, you're not giving it enough time for the pressures to equal out.
Also, try again, unplugging it from the wall and waiting about 20 minutes before plugging it back in.
If it got a good surge from the storm, it may have grounded out the compressor.
