This is a common problem with these automatic pool cleaners and one that can usually be easily corrected. First you should make sure that the wings and shoes are installed properly and are not worn. Replace them if needed. Improper water flow could also be a cause. Check the water flow to the cleaner and regulate if necessary. Often times, too little water flow is the culprit. Make sure that there is not blockage in the throat or hose. Also, check to be sure that the tension flap on the back is not too tight.

G4 keeps heading for and climbing the sides of the pool, always making a long run along the side walls of the pool. The bottom is not being cleaned. Have adequate lenght of hose. Diaphram has no holes....

If these pool cleaners are staying on the edge on the pool, there are two things that you can do to correct the problem. First, reduce the flow through the cleaner to the low side of the ideal range. Second, add a hose weight about 3 feet from the cleaner's head. That should correct the issue.

Cleaner operates normally but simply pulsates in one spot without moving. Appears that it does not make proper contact with pool wall/floor surface.

First, use your pool cleaners pulse point feature to make sure that you have proper water flow. Check your baskets and filter for blockages that could restrict movement and make sure that your diaphragm is not damaged. You will also want to check your hose weights. When the cleaner is resting on the floor of the pool, it should be at a 45 degree angle. If it is not, adjust the hose weights so that it makes proper contact with the pool floor.

I put the eyeball diverter on my pool and the cleaner runs up to it and the hose hangs on it. I keep my hose laying out strait when not in use. It does seem to stay on the sides also.

If the eyeball diverter is not working, you might need to install a wall climb adjuster (Part #K12065). This will keep the automatic pool cleaner on the pool's floor and walls and away from pool obstructions. Make sure the narrow end of the wall climb adjuster points down to the drive tubes.

My aqua bug does not stay on the floor of the pool it comes off of the floor and gets pulled around the pool by the hose and i hav submerged it in water before hooking it up

If the pool cleaner is not staying properly sealed to the floor, it is very possible that it is a problem with the water flow. Make sure that you have adequate flow (clean all of your baskets, filter, and throat of the cleaner). You will also want to make sure the the pool cleaners shoes and wings are not worn or damaged. Replace them if necessary.

Hayward Navigator sort of floating around by the movement of the water...does not climb walls. Line has suction not sure if its too weak

I consulter the owners manual for this model. This is what they suggest.

First, remove all of the air from the cleaner head and stop all air from entering the pool through the return lines. Also, if the head and hose are covered with bubbles, give the hose a good tug. This will release the air bubbles and allow the pool cleaners to settle son the bottom of the pool. Also, the cleaner head may actually be being lifted off the bottom of the pool by the hose or the pressure in the return lines. Make sure that the hose stays untangled and the pressure from the return lines is not too low (not enought pressure to power) or too high (too much pressure that cause the unit to lift off the floor).

Doesn't stay on pool floor - lacks suction

If these pool cleaners are not getting proper suction on the pool floor or wall, it is most likely a problem with the flapper. Make sure that your flapper does not have an debris or tears that would prevent a proper seal. Also, make sure that your water pressure is correct.

I would first make sure that your pool cleaners shoes and wings are in good working order. If they are worn or damaged, replacing them should correct the problem. You might also need to check the tension in the rear flap.

Pool polaris 280

If the cleaner is going too fast then it is likely that there is too much water flow at the drive turbine. Is there a pressure relief valve in the water supply line (at the edge of the pool)? If so then change the tension on the spring to allow less water to get to the cleaner's drive turbine.
The speed of the Polaris is probably the cause of the front wheel lifting as well, however if (after adjusting the water pressure) the front wheel still won't stay on the pool bottom, then perhaps adjust the little jet at the back of the casing. Mine points a little "down" towards the pool floor and this tends to raise the bac k wheel (or alternatively keeps the front wheel in contact with the pool bottom or wall).

By the way, if you want to see how the cleaner works, then search for eHow and lookm at the repair/overhaul of the Polaris 180............. the mechanism is similar.
Good luck.
