Do you mean the IP address of your router, your name you type ( most people leave it admin) or your password? Or something else all together?

If you have just connected this router for the first time, the default is either :

Login:
Pass: admin

or

Login: admin
pass:

(pass or login will be blank)

if that doesn't work, press and hold the reset button with a paper clip on the back of the router for about 10 seconds
(warning: will reset router to factory defaults)

I can not locate my - f9ffdc3.jpg
Then use the login/pass option above

I need the pin number for linksys wrt160nv2 but i only keep getting how to find i dont want to find it i need it. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I am uncertain what you mean by PIN, but Linksys administrative credentials by default require you to log in to 192.168.1.1 the log in name should be empty and the default password is admin. This is assuming you have not changed this password.
If you have changed it and forgotten it you can reset this by unplugging the router and locating the reset switch on the rear of the device. With a sharp pencil hold the reset button and plug in the device. After you release the switch the device should boot to factory settings and be accessible with the above information.

I cannot log in. i have reset router but using admin as password and user blank comes back with same blank log in screen as if nothing was filled in. also, i reset router by placing a pin in reset slot. ...

Correct, put a pin in the reset and hold it for 30 seconds. User name is blank, and password is admin.

if that does not work try user name "admin" password "admin"

Forgot login password

Overview If you have forgotten your Linksys password, you have a couple of options. You can try to use the default settings to log into the router settings and change your password, or you can simply reset the router and set it up again. Either way, you will need to create a new password to use in the future. Read on to learn what to do about a lost Linksys router password.
Try the Default You can try to log in to the Linksys setup page and create a new router password using the default user name and password. This will only work if you did not change the default password when you originally set up your router.

Open a web browser window, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Do not include any prefixes, such as http:// or www. Press Enter or click Go. A dialog box will open prompting you for a user name and password. Try leaving both fields blank and clicking OK. If this does not give you access, type admin into the User Name box and Password into the Password box. Click OK again. If you succeed, you can configure your router settings again and create a new password. Read the first article in this series, Configuring a Linksys Router Settings, to learn how to do so.
Reset the Router
If you are unable to log in to the Linksys router setup page using the default user name and password, you do have another option to solve your lost Linksys router password problem, which is to reset your router. 3d1cb9ca10deccfc3b6a854cda8b29a7cd240d6d_small.jpg

Look for a small Reset button on the back, front or the bottom of your Linksys router. The location of the button depends on the router model, so look carefully. As a precaution the buttons are small and inconspicuous, so that users do not accidentally reset their routers.
Once you have located the Reset button, press and hold it for at least ten seconds. You may need to use something with a small point, such as the end of a paperclip or a pencil tip to depress the button. Release the button and wait for the router to start back up. This will restore the router to its initial factory settings as it was when you first set it up. You will need to configure it again and choose a new password. Refer to the first article in this series for instructions on how to do so.

3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address.

7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.

Where do i find the ssidon my linksys router?

The SSID (network name) is what you have named your network. To set the SSID, log in to the router and go to the Wireless section. Here you will find the SSID area, and you can name your network pretty much any thing you want. Logging in to the router usually involves going to http://192.168.1.1 and supplying the correct login information.

I need to change network name/ssid. the ip

Linksys reset
reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).

Logged off

The LAN should not ever log off but either you are talking about the Internet, which can, microwave devices (ovens, wireless phones) that intermittently interfere or dynamic ip addressing cycles that assign you the 169.xxx.xx.x from within Windows attention deficit disorder manager. You can assure static assignments of ip addresses for your LAN (write down the ip address and default gateway when you are logged on to see what they should be) or log on to your router (Start>Run> type http://192.168.1.1 for Linksys, user name linksys, password is admin and you can configure your LAN and WAN. Select DHCP for cable modems, PPPoE for DSL or STATIC for ensuring LAN ip address assignments. ~Steve
