To adjust the notebook computer LCD press Fn+ F5 and release. Use the RIGHT ARROW or LEFT ARROW key to increase or decrease the value.
NOTES:

  • The Jog Dial control can also be used in place of the RIGHT ARROW or LEFT ARROW key.
  • The setting may not be saved if the ESC key is pressed to exit the display settings. The ENTER key must be pressed, or the display settings must be allowed to close automatically to save the setting.

SONY VAIO PCG-61611l has a very dim screen

Normally, this is in part due to you not replacing it with what should've been an LCD. The reason why it's dim is because those diodes are not getting the required voltage to emit as it should. LCD's work under a different concept where crystals use the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly as LED's, because it stand for light emitting diodes.

Hi,
Dimming your screen is actually a way to save battery to extend the usage hours of your device.
To adjust the brightness of your screen, go to:
Settings > Brightness>

Delll axim x30 screen remains dimmed even though fully charged

ok , you have checked the brightness settings, check battery power settings as well. you may have to do a hard reset so back up your info. If doing a hard reset, pull the battery and charge it on its own if you have a cradle. Hope this works for you

Dim Screen

A very dim screen is an indicator that the screen inverter or the screen itself is going out. Start by checking the screen connections, they sometimes work loose. If the connections are good, then it's the inverter or screen and will need to be replaced.
